1993 Civic LX Backfiring/Won't Start
My 1993 LX is killing me. I can't seem to find outwhat the problem is, and when I think I've fixed it, it just comes back days later. Sometimes, it will randomly start up first try, and drive like a champ until I leave it for a while, and then it may take 10-15 minutes to get it started. While driving, suddenly RPMs will drop to 0 and it will begin backfiring in a series. Had the fuel pump replaced, O2 sensor replaced, and I'm running out of ideas. Please help!

Not running, but backfiring, usually comes from the plugs sparking at way the wrong time. If you can get it to consistently not start, observe with a timing light while cranking. Could be the wiring or grounds, sensors in the distributor, or even maybe the ECU.

Check your distributor cap. Inside it look at the igniter and the coils. There is a test you can do on those parts to determinewhat the problem is, but I can almost guarantee that is where your problem is coming from.
