00 D16Y7 ECU same as 97 D16Y7 ECU?
Hi everyone! My engine seized on me, so I got another one. It's about to get swapped. They are both auto trans D16Y7s, one is from a 97 and the original (mine) is a 2000. I am pretty sure that they are the same exact ECU, but can't find any info on it. I'm pretty sure it will just hook right up and run fine, but I can go back and get the 97 ECU if there are problems. Anyone know? Thanks

The ECUs and wiring are different. 1996 and 1997 are OBDIIa, 1998-2000 are OBDIIb. But there is no reason not to just use the ECU that came with the car.
There are extra air holes in the intake manifold though which will not mate to the early head and will cause an air leak. To use a 96 or 97 engine in a later car, you need to swap the manifold or weld shut the holes in your OBDIIb manifold.

Thank you!
Awesome! Luckily, the intake is still intact on the 97 engine including throttle body and everything, just no stock intake, I have a short RAM intake to put on there. So everything should be cool? *crosses fingers holy crap

I just did a similar swap. 2000 Civic, got a new engine with a head from a 96 and a block from a 98. The engines themselves are for the most part identical. The difference was in the wiring, like mk378 said. The extra air holes were not present on the y7 intake manifolds, just the y8 manifolds, so you wont have to worry about that.
