Angry Worst weekend ever!!!!

So i drive 1 and a half from my house to New York city last night to JFK airport to pick up a friends...On the way there my speedometer cut off, engine light came on, and I noticed i had no vtec....and then when i pulled into the airport parking i started losing power and my radio turned off and my tach cut off...then when I got to a parking spot...and I soon as I did the car died...and wouldn't start. So I figured the alternator was bad...

I left the car at the airport last night...This morning at 10 I left to go get an alternator and headed back to JFK airport...I got to wrenching on the top bolt and it easily stripped..so I called my roadside assistance and took him an hour to come..so by then it was 3 pm already...when the driver came he brought a jaw type tow truck...and when he tried putting it under the car scraped my bumper and popped it off my passenger fender....so then when we finally got it on the truck
We headed to pep boys in Jamaica, NY...we got there at 4ish and the worker said it would be an hour or so...and he couldn't find the right alternator..then i told him its from a 98 integra ls..he didn't believe me so..about an hour later he still couldn't figure it out so i told him to check the Integra LS alternator and guess what!!! it fit!!! but it was 730 ish and thats when they close...

They basically sent me out with out testing the alternator or even trickle charging my battery...and so they said it was fine...so I drove it and got about 4 miles or so...then I had my friend that was THANKFULLY following me...jump the car again and let it charge from his truck for a few mins...then we were off again and then 10 mins later it got stuck on the Whitestone bridge....and so we waited there for 5 mins and a police officer came and called a wrecker truck to push my car off the bridge...when he got there he pushed me for a lil bit off the bridge and into a emergency parking place...The wrecker scraped my paint on my spoiler...and I found out I had to push my car out of that lot and onto a side road...while I was going to leave it there for the night another tow truck came and told us that it was not at all safe to leave a civic in the city in as good of condition as mine or it wont be there long...but a guy that lived by where I parked said that he'll watch the car..so we got su****ious and tried to fix it...

We jumped it again for 10 mins and made it...10 mins to a mcdonalds which we found out couldn't leave it there overnight since I wasn't a customer and they were ********...so I let my car charge there for about 1 hour...and found a kmart on the GPS that we thought it was open 24 hours but wasn't and had cages over the doors and everything...it was about 11 now and I just wanted to go home so I figured I would park my car near a busy street in the kmart parking lot that was well lit...and well the best thing about tonight was that my friends Explorer topped out at 2 on his gear position selector...but I really hope my car is there tommorrow and I can get back on a fully charged optima battery...

I was actually thinking about Trent while I was reading this... I'm pretty sure his weekend was pretty bad.

Wow, I'm kind of surprised the battery's still holding a charge in that case. Usually when you drain them like that they're pretty much no good anymore.

But I know how you feel... my friend and I had quite the adventure one night when his alternator went out in his jetta. A 45 minute drive took us about 6 hours, a new alternator, and a new battery

I think the only reason it ran that long is that it was an Optima Yellow top battery...Thanks again...but reaper..i know how your friend felt...It was horrible last night..Pep boys didn't charge my battery so i was trying to run off a dead battery and it didn't work out so well...but what are the chances of getting a bad alternator? kinda b/s if you ask me...i even ran the ELD test yesterday..or would it be affected if that car was running off my friends truck when i tested it? should i be running under its own power when tested? also not sure if my car has an Electronic Load Detector that switches the alternator on and off any help would be appreciated..Thanks
