considering that in the NFL most every DB, WR, and alot of RBs, as well as some LBs are now capable of that, quite a few.
soccer is gay in the sense that it doesnt allow checking or tackling...its a bunch of guys running around on a massive field, with the hopes of someday getting a shot on goal. its like a lower scoring, less physical, less skilled version of lacrosse...
and yes, i know that guys occassionally run into each other, or slide in front of another guy which results in that guy falling and dirtying his little shorts, and get the dreaded yellow card..
and as for soccer being an incredibly skilled sport...while the "great" players are probably very good at running around and kicking a ball, even little kids can play soccer...
honestly, how can you get THAT excited about a game where a great scoring game between two good teams is 2-0?
the bottom line is that the united states is the most educated and the wealthiest country in the world, like it or not..and for the most part, no one cares about soccer. and thats never going to change...

Again, I dont think u know that much about soccer by the way u described it. How many touch downs in a foot ball game if they only count as one point? (even they have 4 downs to score while in soccer u miss, u miss) No one cares? That'll change, you'll see.
By the way fifa's ranking depends on how well the team performed in the qualifiers ( there're not many good teams in north america)US team dont play against good teams alot that's why they dont get high rank in WC and prolly wont finish in 5th place

RE: World Cup is here!!!
its not uncommon for a good football team to score 4 or 5 TDs a game...your arguement that "its dumb to award 6 points for one score" is an awful arguing point...
and it will change that americans dont care about soccer? because its a brand new game, right? it just hasnt "taken off" yet in the states?
i know enough about soccer to understand how the game is played...i dont know the specifics, but in case you couldnt tell, americans like games that display alot of aggression, not alot of finesse...and if im not mistaken finesse is very important in soccer...
and i dont understand how a 6 foot tall guy can keep the score so low when hes guarding a net that i think is something like 8 feet by 24 feet? maybe it was 22...sorry...not positive...
when i watch soccer, i see one team work the ball back and forth in their "offensive zone"...sorry if there are proper terms...they work it down low, and back towards center, then across...alot of back and forth...with the attempt to try to find someone cutting to the net, but with the exception of a few games where i have seen a tied score very late, there never seems to be any sense of urgency with the players...they dont seem to be in any rush to get to the goal...

That's now soccer is played these days. A winning game is too crucial that they cant afford to lose and play really defensive. They rather have a draw than lose a game, that's why the score is low especially in Premier League. Its not how soccer really played (or used to be played) A team like Chelsea is a shame to soccer, they score one point then have the whole team to defense. That's why people excited about world cup, where many soccer culturals come together and show their incredible skill. If you watch more Brazil games, you'll see.
And its gettin more popular here in the US, believe it or not. The MLS was only founded in just more than 10 years ago w 10 teams and look how it's growing now(well i guess u dont even care lol)
Oh and how they missed they goal? I still see football players miss 18.5 feet goal w no one guarded?

Hello,
I am new to the forum and fairly new to civics (3 months). We have purchased a 96 coupe and have begun to so some mods. The next thing I want to do is convert our manual windows to power. My questions are: can I change out the regulators with power ones and will they bolt in the same. And when I replaced my instrument cluster, I added a tach and the car was already pre-wired for the tach... All I had to do is plug and play, so to speak. Is it the same situation for the windows? Is the wiring there, but not being used? I plan to make changes to the door panels and the arm rests anyway, so I can put in the neccessary switches then.
Anyone have any input on this subject. The car is great except for a few power options we like, but we got such a good deal on the car, we figured we could live with the defficiencies or change them.
Thanks for listening (or reading),
Eddie

Ok. At my school football players sometimes quit to play soccer or managed both at the same time. And not everybody has to like soccer. If we all liked the same thing there would be one major sport. Oh, and to my friends in the uk, my bad, I didn't think about that, we do have crappy teams in our area. There's a good article in this months Muscle and Fitness magazine on how the US team trains. Soccer is just a game that requires alot of endurance and skill. I agree that teams who when they score, just pass the ball around to kill time, isn't how you should play. As for soccer in america, it is getting more popular. ESPN even said it isn't a matter of if it will, it's a matter of when it will. Also, look at all the young kids you play soccer now. Even the term soccer mom came about. When this generation of kids grow up, thats when I say it will get very popular.
