I for one play soccer and for those who say it isn't a contact sport has not played or Doesn't take the time to really watch a game. No it is not as tuff as football, but in many cases you will be running faster than those players and hit one another head on, without pads(except shin guards). At our school, we have these big guys who play football come out for soccer and end up losing up to 20, 30 lbs. It shows how much endurance you have to have to play the sport. It is a strategic and edurance sport not brute force.
Where do you live? In high school, football and soccer both start in fall. So they can either play football or soccer.

Click here Scroll to the bottom. We are in 5th in the Fifa world ranking. Your are probably talking about who is in favor of winning. Last I checked, you guys were in 10th.
Ha ha, nice try, the FIFA world ranking doesnt mean ****, its based on match's won during the qualifying stages of the world cup, we play european oppositon of the highest standard, you play crap teams in your part of the world that dont even qualify for the world cup such as Greenland, Hawaii, canada, cuba, jamaica. therefore you gain more points because you beat crap teams. The list I posted above is the only seed's that matter.

i never said that rugby wasnt hardcore...my college has a rugby team and those guys are f'in nuts...

i have watched soccer, and tried to find the allure, but i just cant. while i traveled for work, my coworker was REALLY into the world cup, and i saw lots of games, and i just dont see the attraction. while there is "contact", its only more physical than baseball and basketball...

and while i mean no offense to any of our european members, the only people who care about soccer are people from countries where their soccer teams are competitive..the bottom line is that most people in the US just dont care about soccer, and in my high school, and college, the soccer players were in good shape, yes...much better than me...yes...but they are, for the most part, skinny *** guys...the soccer players in high school were below the track distance runners on the food chain.

also, i was right about the money...if a good player in the UK soccer leagues or whatever make about $178,532.87 USD...NHL league min is 450,000 USD...230,000 USD for the NFL.

Patrick, I hope you mean thats what they earn in a week cos I did, if so I thought it was bad enough how much our sportsmen earn but thats ridiculous.

Everybody in school plays soccer over here and we're not all skiny, infact Great Britain is on the verge of an obesity crisis, just like you guy's have.

we have fat people..but not that play soccer...too much running!

so, can you check my conversions? 100,000 pounds, right? shoudl be about 178,000 USD..i think? so 52 weeks would be about 9 million USD, which was what the better players make in some US pro sports...

Yeah the convertion looks spot on. Some player's may earn even more than 100k a week at teams such as Chelsea, they are owned by a Russian Billionaire who pays £20,000,000 for players to come to his club so paying high wages is nothing.

No offend but how could u talk about other sports w/o even playing it. It tried all sports and soccer is my favorite. And ur thoughts about "real sports" r just ignorant.

im sorry..i should say, i havent played soccer on an organized team.

when i was young and was feeling out sports, i went to a soccer camp and such, but it just wasnt for me...i also went to a basketball camp, but im 5'10" and i gots no ups!

i dont claim to have any skill at soccer at ALL, but i have screwed around with friends, and one of my friends in high school had an older brother who played in the MLS...he was something to watch, but its just too low scoring and slow moving for me...keep in mind, i play ice hockey. i played indoor soccer for a while, but i wasnt any good at that either...and while it was faster moving, its no hockey.

and dont call me ignorant..im american...that will suffice.

I do understand that not everybody likes soccer, especially in the USA, but when someone calls it gay or ***** and stuff, it just boils my blood. And this is comming from people that like to watch oversized men in tights and big pads slamming into each other. In soccer (should be called football in the US, like the rest of the world, since players do more with their feet then american football players) the action is non-stop, Whereas in football, the players run a few yards and stop and repeat for a few hours. The only popular sport in the US that I can watch, aside from hockey is basketball, since it's pretty non-stop, intense and involves true athletes, not some oversized pigs.

again, let me point out that while i like football...i am a hockey player...and anything that you can bring up, such as intensity, scoring, physical prowess, speed of play..etc...yes, football is far slower moving, and even basketball has some delays...but soccer...there is far too much pissing around and not enough REAL offense...and while hockey players do wear pads, i was a college goaltender, and ive played soccer goaltender(or tried) and while it hurts when the soccer ball hits you it does hurt, it pales in comparison to a hockey puck.

ya know who else is nuts? lacrosse goaltenders...
