You could get one of those wireless hubs (I think thats what they are called) It is something that plugs into your computer with a wire but it is small and works wirelessly.

First of all you need a wireless network card for the laptop. It should come with drivers. Install those and you're ready to go. I have windows '98 and 2000 on my laptop and I can use wireless internet on both OSs. Keep in mind that you will also need a wireless router that would be connected to your DSL modem. I recommend Linksys

and linksys has some of the best products on the market.
whatever you do, do not go with netgear. ive purchased several netgear products and had issues with all of them.[:'(]
not to mention, their customer support sucks.
