see im probly what you call "ricey", i like wing, body kits(but i will never again put one on myself), wheels, all. but maybe in some ways its a good thang kids are doin these mods to there car and not spending there money on the engine,(stupid kids, engine mods) that aint goin to add up. theres kids now that push there cars to the max stock, just thing if there motors was moded. just another opinion.

 

I am of two opinions about rice.

First, it's a fad. People laugh at fads... that's why fads exist, to be laughed at. Personally, I believe this whole "OMG JDM!!1!!" thing is almost as out of hand and I mock it just about as much as I mock rice. But that's just me and really, let's be honest, I'm pretty much a bitch.

Second, regardless of the fact that I mock, I respect anyone who has put time and love and dedication and money into their car. I don't care if it goes to show or go. I love the clean turbo'd cars on this forum just as much as I love the rice (I prefer the term "show car") here. I do NOT respect, however, asshats who think that their ten dollar autozone muffler turns them into speed racer. THOSE are the people who deserve your mockage, not people who prefer a nice paint job.

On the other hand, I have pink dash lights. Who the hell am I to say anything?

 

Being a ricer has nothing to do with what you drive IMO, it is a attitude. Show cars are not rice, we play around and kid eachother as if they are but it's the guy with a strictly show car that thinks it's fast when it pulls 16 second 1/4 miles that is rice IMO.

 

^ The Pink dash lights are a color of choice to you, i have tried to make mine blue(but turned out more of a green/blue) so i think that dash lights may be one of those exceptions.

but as for "Rice"..the only good rice is the kind you eat. Car rice to me, is something that is ugly and distasteful, or someone who buys a $10 fart can, and they think that they have turned their Civic CX into a TypeR.

And as for the whole JDM thing, i too think it has gone too out of hand, but at the same time i kinda like some of the things,(like head light style) but i would never spend $500 for a steering wheel that looks just like mine, but is out of a JDM Civic SiR

 

hold up my 1994 civic runs 16s and i think it is fast and it looks quite good (no pealing clear or paint fadeing bearly any scratches) for a car that still has the factory paint job. It is a long way from what it use to run before i rebuilt the engine (it use to run like some were in the low 18s)

 

^ that is the 60 and 1/4 mile times for a stock 1994 EX. There must have been something wrong with the car to run low 18's. Even an LX or DX would run in the 17's at least.

 

Poor, or inexperienced driver could have played a role in those times. Hell, my first time down the track I ran a 19.2 (major wheel hop caused me to come to a complete stop, and start over)[sm=roll.gif]

 

still though 16's is slow, average at best for a 92-00 civic

 

To me, a ricer is a car that looks tacky and is an eyesore. Here's a list of things that I consider as being ricey:
-car with multiple paint colors
-oversized wings (race cars are the exception, but you wouldn't normally see these on the street)
-body kits that don't match the lines of the car. Here's a good example: rice
-decals
-neons
-oversized chrome wheels
-rediculous camber setting
-"dual exhaust" on a 4cyl car
-unpainted body kits

 

^ the worst is when they are all those things on one car
