What made you get a Civic?

RE: What made you get a Civic?
hmmm wow. Let me think. When i was 16, i saw a 97 civic ex in a magazine by the name of Euro Tuner. I dont find it around much, but a girl named cherie roberts was on the cover with it. They called it the bad apple because it was apple green. Gorgeous car. Had a cloth sunroof cover on it. Never saw another one like it but it folded back so neatly. Shaved handles, airbagged, on 17s. Very clean, not too ricey. I liked it.
My first car was a 2001 Mazda Protege which i ended up totaling in my first, lame *** attempt at drifting. yes...in a front wheel drive. *grabs a waterhose* commence with the flaming...
After that i decided damn. I need a new car. So i went hunting. Unfortunately i didnt know much about civics yet at this point. Didnt know about type r teggies. I just knew what i wanted for a bodystyle, and i knew what i wanted it to look like. So i found a civic finally. A 2000 coupe. Automatic - didnt matter yet. Drive it like its stolen a bitch shift it. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, D....thats how it works right? beh yeh right...ANYWAY, moving on. I bought my angel for 7500 from a friend of a best friend of mine who ive been friends with for 18 years. Welll, no carfax report and one accident later, i find out while its at the body shop, that it was almost totaled by the insurance company from a previous accident, and the frame needed to be straightened(doesnt this result in a total by default? never recorded) Anyway, thats how i ended up with my civic. Long story short. I love the car. The p/w ratio is amazing when compared with prices. Theyre comfortable. And as far as the constant - "ZOMG!!! ANOTHER RICE!!!" i enjoy it. I find it extremely amusing comming from
1. People who dont have a car themselves.
2. People who have a car, that would be made cooler by adding a cardboard bodykit.
and the greatest person to ever call me a ricer:
A kid driving his moms honda oddessy.

RE: What made you get a Civic?
My dad had a 91 Cx hatch, i loved that car, he traded it for a 97 Lx Sedan, i loved that car too. I always wanted a DC2 but when i was old enough to get my licence i didn't have the money for a car, When i got my first car it was a 92 Tercel, my mom had gotten remarried to a car salesman, and he gave her a new car and she gave that to me. was a great littlecar that i still miss sometimes. Since i new i wouldn't get a DC2 and a friend of mine had just bought an EJ1, i really wanted to get an EG for a long time.
My first Civic was a 90 Si.... yeah...i traded the Tercel for it needless to say i had it for a month then sold it for $500, and regreted having ever gotten it... the CEL was on, it needed new axles, radiator, exhaust, rocker panels, the valves were bent... god i could go on for hours.
Just before i sold that i got a 90 Corolla SR5, i had that for about 2 years and the timming belt blew into a million pieces. fortunately for me Toytas have non interference engines, so i got the Timming belt replaced, That night i was talking to my mom on the phone and she told me that since the Corolla was becomming unreliable that she got me a new car. i near cried i was so happy.
So here i am now with the gift of a 93 Cx hatch, i love the car, it has its faults (auto) but it is great. i plan on saving and doing either a JDM D15Bw/ Tranny swap, or B16w/tranny swap... which ever i decide first.
I honestly didn't think the post would be taht long lol
I should point out that everyone on my dads wifes side of the family has a Civic too, so the family get togethers have all Civics in the driveway (all are EM's except mine)

RE: What made you get a Civic?
For me: I totaled my first car, which was a 1993 Nissan Altima, while going to school...
I like to think of it as a blessing in disguise because:
A. It was a POS that was costing me more money to keep it on the road then it was worth
B. The other car had barely any damage to it, so they didn't have any problems with it, and...
C. I was saving a lot of money from not paying for any gas...
Well anyway, I was carless for the next couple of months, and decided to go to a car show over at the local fairgrounds...here, local dealerships would bring their cars out, and you would be able to test drive them...Well one of the first cars I looked into was a 98 Ford Focus...I got inside, and it was the cleanest car I had ever been in (even cleaner than my dad's vibe)...test drove it, but something was telling me not to make an offer, so i forgot about that...
Well, I then went online and found a '00 focus, and made an appointment to go up there and test drive it...just a couple of hours before I left, i decided to look in autotrader, and i found this black 2000 Civic EX...It was on the way to that Ford Dealership, so i decided to stop there for a test drive...Drove it, loved it, and realized that there was a whole bunch of potential in this car, so I made an offer, and the rest was history...
