Funny you should ask this. I just finished a personal study of gas mileage of all such cars. I wanted to know which ones get the best mileage so I looked at reviews posted for each model. I looked for reliability,performance,fun to drive factor as well. Turns out the honda civic is the only one that has it all. No other car gets forty miles per gallon in gasoline. The volkswagen golf diesel gets over fifty but it's fun to drive factor is not very good. No hybrids were considered. Next was toyota corolla,35 mpg and has all the other features pretty well covered although I doubt it performs as well as the civic. All the rest fall into the 25 to 30 mpg category and various results in the fun to drive,etc. Seems odd that no other gas engine cars get 40 mpg, have to hand it to honda for covering all the bases on the civic.

 

srt-4's are badass, also like the 300zx's down my street. wrx stis = godly, although i dont know if they count as compacts

 

well ill have to go with the mazda protege since i own one.

I may have missed a few.

if it comes from japan, then most likely i am a fan... but to clarify more, all honda/acura's, Celica, MR2, MRS, AE86 & AE92 corollas. Supra's, 3rd gen RX7's RX8's, EVO V-IX. Impreza WXR STi.

 

What Kappa said, except I don't like 1st gen dsm, any sentra's, AE86's, early MR2's, some subies, or altezza's. But I do like 3rd gen eclipse's, newer supra's, and integra type-r's (the one's with B18's).
