So thats the rattling noise I've been hearing...

 

True story, exhaust fluid exists. And I'm not joking, either. BMW diesels have honest-to-God exhaust fluid.

 

a good in-tune motor will drip fluids from exhaust

So that's why my muffler keeps getting so hot, my muffler ran out of fluid.

 

I think it's something along those lines. I know it's supposed to reduce NOx.

Obviously, having the Cummins logo, it's not BMW fluid, but I couldn't find a pic of BMW's bottles.
