Default Van help wanted in the UK

I’m in a band and we’re thinking of buying a van between the 4 of us. We’d only really be using it every other weekend/couple of times a month. I checked out reviews on Parkers.co.ukbut they don’t help a great deal because I know nothing about vans to begin with!

We’d want something that could seat us all (legally,) with enough room for our gear - something like a tranny with a second bench in – apart from that we’re after something as cheap and reliable as possible, but would like it to be somewhat secure.

- How many miles would you expect to be able to get out of a van’s engine?
- How often do they need to be serviced?
- What’s van insurance like? (all young drivers, under 21)

Can anyone help?

if you get a nice big ford box van type thing you can get alot of miles out of it probly 200k if you take care of it. and those are miles not KM
insurance I am sure wiill be hella cheap since they are safe and whatnot.

You should buy a short bus and take some of the back seats out.

We went for a ride in a Hiace minibus once, we said it'd be perfect with just 2 rows of seats, use the back space for gear.

believe it or not, but VW Vanagon/eurovan is a quality vehicle. Otherwise, a Nissan Quest is pretty reliable and so is Toyota Sienna (it's a bit more expensive though)

Sorry about the major case of bringing a thread back from the dead... but does anyone know how much it would cost to MOT/service a Transit please?!
