Two people killed...
Look, I dont' want to bring anybody down, but this really hit home, literally. I know we all want the fastest car we can get, but without some sort of personal restraint on our part this could certainly be someone you know or even one of us.
I have met with this kid several times to talk about ECU tuning and one of the guys that got killed was my AutoX buddy. They were all very young. I am not going to say he was street racing becasue I dont' know for sure, but he was certainly going faster than the 35mph speed limit. He lived, but he has a broken back and may be paralyzed. He is stable, but now he has to live with killing two of his friends that were in the car with him.
Lets' be careful out there guys.

RE: Two people killed...
I guy I know named Ted Parker, the mobile home king, bought his 16-year-old daughter a corvette, and she preceded to get in a debilitating wreck with it pretty quickly.
racing is fun. but it's also dangerous and illegal. I need to cool my own jets, come to think of it.
I find myself doing the ol' stoplight drag routine more and more. but I usually shut it down before third gear.
still. it is stoopid on my part. I'm gonna have to find a different car to keep me from being tempted...

RE: Two people killed...
they just reported on the radio yesterday that there was a race between a civic and an old fox body mustang, and the mustang lost it and smashed into a tree, killing the driver. he left behind a wife and kids, for street racing. its just stupid. as they were reporting it, i started thinking about my friends that drive Fox bodies, and how it could easily be any one of them, because none of them could pass up on a chance to race a honda. turns out i didnt know the guy, but still, just thinking about the what-if of it being a friend of mine was sobering. keep it off the streets. and remember, 5 seconds before they raced, he thought it couldnt happen to him too.[&:]

I know you should save it for the track but it's hard not to get on it and have that rush for just a minute or so. And I don't want to end up wraped up around a tree..maybe I should only go 110 on the straight a ways.
