So im a 19yr old college student. I got 2 tickets yesterday..Cop observed me going through an intersection, and my tires apparently made a screech...So that was $120bux right there. Then my seatbelt was off, another 70...I take full responsibility for the seat belt, I normally do wear it, I just didnt since I was getting some gas just down the road from my house..Thats a bad excuse i know...

Seatbelt completely my error, but the screeching... I honestly see no error in this, I wasnt speeding, didnt run any lights, just tires made a sound and I get hit with careless driving.

So thats my story, any opinions on what I should do? I plan to take the improvement course on one, and go to court for the other...

 

and I don't know why the hell cops care if your tires screech.

 

yea the screeching is a bit weird.

 

well, theres three things that will make the tires screech:
1) accelerating too fast from a stop/slow speed (unsafe launch/exhibition driving)
2) braking too fast (careless driving)... I don't think cops would really hit you with this one though
3) cornering too fast (careless driving/exhibition driving)

basically, all three of them are bad to do on public roads due to the whole safety thing

 

My Jeep's tires screech in parking garages when I turn the steering wheel while parked. My Civic's tires don't screech even when I'm taking a 90-degree corner at the speed limit.

 

My audi's wheel screeches when i accelerate too quickly on the highway. Feels like the wheels come up and the wheels spin extra fast. If it was wet, then its alot easier to screech your wheels.
but cops will do anything to write tickets

"sir did you notice you took that u-turn too slow? im going to have to write you a ticket"

 

Ive gotten a ticket for putting a for sale sign on the window of my car ( and my car was parked right in front of my house)

 

IMO feel lucky the ticket was $120 for careless driving. I've had a couple of those and they both topped $600.

A buddy back in high school wanted to race me from a stoplight, hechirped em off the line and in second, I didnt...cop got him for speed racing....$1k.
