1st off what is the water temp readinding about on the gauge? What year is the car also? There is no problem of putting car in neutral and coasting to a stop. I do it when I dont feel like down shifting. Some times I skip a a gear or 2 it depends what I'm doing.

lol yea sometimes i get lazy too. but it does save your breaks a little bit if you gear down when you slow down. but i wears on the clutch a little bit so it sorta evens it out a little. dont worry bout your motor getting hot to the touch thats normal. just watch your guages thats when something is wrong. when it comes to maintaining your motor you should read up on fluid levels and such in your owners manuel and if you get curious about something just do some reasearch on the forum and someone should be able to help you out. dont be scared to ask questions everyone is pretty cool on this forum when it comes to helping people out. just make sure you reasearch it first to make sure it hasnt been covered. so i hope i could be of help for you.

make sure your oil and water levels are normal...and keep an eye on your temp gauge, that will tell you if you have issues....also, i try not to coast in neutral, i at least try to keep it in second when i stop, or slow down...
