TOP GEAR HAMMOND CRITICAL IN JET CAR CRASH
Top gear presenter Richard Hammond is critically ill in hospital after crashing a jet car at 280mph while filming for the new series. It happend about 6:00pm UK time so about 3 hours ago. That is all I know at the moment, the news will have an update later on tonight.

I just heard about this on another forum. Going for some land speed record. Last run of the day. 280MPH. parachute deployed and car swerved off track and rolled.

UPDATE..Doctors have now confirmed that his condition is stable which is good news. Some of the newspapers over here are saying that he was traveling more like 315mph when the jet powered dragster flipped into the air.
Ive seen some of the pics from the airfield and it looks like one bad crash, bits of car everywhere and its resting place is a long way from the track.
