Just had the Matco guy come to school yesterday, and Snap On today. My studen tiscount on tools is going to get exercised hahahahaha. I'm probably going to end up taking out like a $5000 loan for tools. I get up to 50% off on tools, it is AMAZING. I'm already starting to plan everything I'm going to buy. I figured out pretty much who I'm getting what from. Sockets and screwdrivers are the main things I'm getting from Matco. It is going to cost me $1300 for all the sockets I want haha. That is everything in deep and standard, 1/2" impact in deep and normal, and 3/8" impact swivels. I'm getting Matco sockets over Snap On since I love the lazer etching on their sockets, makes it so much easier to find what youneed. And Matco warrenties the lazer etching. From Snap On I will be getting Wrenches, normal and stubby in flank drive plus, ratchets, extensions, pliers and stuff. I'm going to get a LOT of ratchets haha. Going to buy the 100 tooth Snap On swivel ratchets, every size ratchet in their 80 tooth, locking flex (the giant like 24" 1/2" drive locking flex ratchet is awesomeeeeeeeeeeee), and plenty of different length and bend ratchets. I get em for like $50 each with my discount so why not haha. I can't wait to start dropping cash. Going to sell me H setup I was building to pay for stuff haha.

And I'm going to order some Matco pry bars on Nov 1st. They are their November sale item, $157.85 for the set, I get them for $66.30 haha. So no more bending my pry bars lol.

I'm also kinda mad I bought my Snap On impact. I paid $200 for it used. I could've got a brand new one with my discount for $233 lol. I might ell mine to the truck or someone and buy the Matco one I wanted for $300 after my discount.

What is you opnions on soft grip ratchets like matco and snap on versus the standard normal handle without the grip? I like the normal bare grip but I was thinking of ordering gripped ones. Was just thinking about how well they grip when greasy and stuff.

My friend works at a BMW dealership. His friend has snap-on's soft grip ratchets. His nickname? Babyhands. They're comfortable to use, but I've heard it's easy to tear up the grips on them.

Reaper, have fun tomorrow! I really need some tools. I'm looking forward to finally getting a torque wrench and a breaker bar. I graduate in less than a year; it's going to be so nice to have some real money to spend.

I split the shopping into two days. Yesterday I hit up Sears for some Craftsman goodies and today I hit up Harbor Freight for the things that I expect to be replacing every year and/or where brand didn't matter (ie, air ratchet, hammers, etc).

Let's just say I doubled my investment on tools in the last two days. I'll have pictures up of the toolbox/tools I have at work in the next week. I still need to buy two more add-ons for my box (a 4-drawer/2-shelf side cabinet and a 6-drawer side caddy), as well as beefier casters, but I'd say I now have about 75% of the tools I plan on buying in the next 10 years (not counting replacing lost/broken/stolen tools).

*edit: Here's a quick pic of what I bought in the last two days. More tools to come when I have more money (The price of tools I still have to buy is in the quadruple digits).

Just wait til you see how much I'm spending LOL. I'm getting my grandma to borrow me $5k to spend on tools. I'm putting together a shopping cart of everything I'm getting from Matco. I'm currently at $1600. Still need to pick out which Fluke I want, another $300 there. From Matco I'm getting screwdrivers, pry bars, ALL my sockets (deep and normal 1/4, deep and normal 3/8, impact swivel 3/8, normal and deep impact 1/2, normal chrome 1/2). I love Matco's sockets since they are lazer etched the size on the side, and they warranty the etching. I have yet to fiinsh putting together my Snap On list. My Matco total will be about $2k I think. My Snap On bill will be another $2k easily. Seeing as I have about 12 different ratchets I'm getting haha. Everything else will be Snap On. Pliers, wrenches, stuff like that. Going to get a flank drive plus set of wrenches and add to it so I have a complete set from 8-22. That'll be $200 there alone. And going to get double box end wrench set through them too. I'm going to have most of the $5k spent. And my gift of graduating from school to myself next year will be buying myself a new Snap On box. My dscount is awesome.

Soooo my grandma just ewrote me a $4000 check to loan me for my tools. Bahahaha I'm so excited you have no idea. Going to get together my list of Snap On stuff.

Here's what I am getting from Matco. I still have to figure out which Fluke I want so it's another $300.

BODY CLIP PLIERS BCP55 $25.60
39 PC GEARDRIVER RATCH SCRDRVR GDRS39 $73.95
4 PC MINI HOOK-N-PICK SET -GRN HP4GB $43.50
4 PC LONG HOOK-N-PICK SET -GRN HP4LG $54.95
3 PC MAGNET / MIRROR KIT MM3K $29.95
4PC PRYBAR SET GREEN PBSG4A $157.85
5 PC SCRAPER SET-GRN HNDL SCSG5B $88.30
1/4X1-STUBBY PHLPS P2 -GREEN SG81P2B $12.10
1/4 X 1SLT SCREWDVR GRN STUBB SG82B $12.10
25PC PUNCH & CHISEL SET SPL25KA2 $457.50
GREEN 8 PC SCRWRVR SET SSPCG8C $156.40
GREEN 5 PC XL SCRDRVR SET SSPG5XLC $139.35
7 PC TAMP TORX SCRDRVR SET ORG SSPTPO7C $145.50
3/8 7PC IMP MM 6PT SKT SET (impact swivel) SBUPM76TB $286.65

All of that is only costing me $810.93. Another $300 for the Fluke. So for Matco my bills not terrible.

Now for Snap On, ouch lol. I'm getting probably 8-10 dif ratchets. Getting ALL my sockets through them now (changed my mind) except impact swivels. I prefer Matco's pinless design. Also getting LOTS of ball peen dead blows from Snap On, normal dead blows, all their pliers and ****, going all out really. Going to make that list tomorrow and get a price from our rep and hopefully order it Mondayish next week. Can't wait!!!

Edit: Matco bill is up to $1250 now lol. I need to stop going on the site and finding stuff, it is all the little things that are killing me.

All my Snap On and Matco **** is ordered for now. This is stage 1 of 4 for buying things. With my discount, I spent $4500 between the two companies. Should be getting Matco stuff tomorrow, Snap On next week. Half my Snap On stuff is backordered though, some stuff even in to the end of December.

Here's the rest of how I plan to buy stuff.

Stage 2: Air tools (air ratchet, chisel, 3/8 impact)
Stage 3: Any other miscallenious tools I need/want
Stage 4: My Snap On box

These will al be spread out over my 2 years.
