Forgot to mention, I shipped a tire by UPS a couple months ago. The tire was fine before I shipped it. Recipient mounted it on his car, but it was leaking from a slice in the tire where the rim meets the tire. UPS still hasn't given me the money back for my claim.

Hey now, I'm the proud owner of Bartending for Dummies... it's a good book to have.

That's okay, that's a "(verb) for Dummies" book. Kindly direct your anger at spencer.

Bartending is a noun. It's a gerund. :D

Yes, but in the end it is technically a noun, because that's the part of speech it functions as.

Proof:
A complete sentence must have a subject (noun), a predicate, and express a complete thought.
Therefore if "Bartending is cool." is a complete sentence, then the verb is "is", and cool is the adjective that completes the thought; this makes Bartending the noun, otherwise it could not be a complete sentence, which it is.

P.S. I'm just arguing for fun, not to entice hostility.

reaper2022 07-14-2009 04:16 PM

Yes, but the word itself is still a verb; it's just acting as a noun. I understand where you're coming from, but I still stand by my statement that it's a verb acting in the place of a noun to conform to the rules of sentence structure.

trustdestruction 07-14-2009 04:33 PM

I think it's safe to say that it's both a noun and verb. lol

-People that think they're cool with dirt bikes. A CBR600 F4i can be turned into a dirt bike, a CRF will never be a sportbike :D

I'm trying to find the pictures I'm thinking of... saw 'em on CBRForum a while back. Dude takes dirt bike tires and stretches the rear to fit on the rim of his 600 then proceeds to rip through fields. Pure awesomeness.
