Running on empty

Running on empty
So last night coming back from church, I took the highway when I noticed the needle to the gas gauge was on empty. There are no gas stations in that area and still had like 35 minutes left to go.
I prayed for the best and as soon as I made to the gas station by my house, the car just shut off. I know I should've look at the gas gauge but I was having fun.
I was wandering, what's the farthest anyone has gotten running on empty?

RE: Running on empty
If I remember correctly your gas light come on with a two gallon reserve.
So technically you have two gallons at 25-30 mpg. But I am not brave enuf to
test this. God knows what else may be in my tank!

RE: Running on empty
I'm usually good with filling it up at half tank but I didn't realized it was on empty on Sunday. I had a friend of mine, whose grandfather would drive on empty for like two weeks. He was a funny old man and everytime my friend would tell him to fill up, he would say "don't worry about it, i got two more miles on it."
He was always scared they'd get stuck without gas. Funny, he never got stuck. His grandfather had the car for like 20 years.
