a crazy friend of mine make like 3 grands out of 2 Ps3 and keep another one for himself. bastard. I did not want to get inline and miss a day of work...<<<regret it now!!

Today I was listening to fox news on XM and they said Sony needs to sell 23 million units to break even. And if they sell less than that they may go under. They said there was a big recall on labtop batterys or something, and they lost tons of money from that. So Sony needs these ps3's to sell like crazy.

 

yeah...im pretty sure that sony going under is nothing but a very blind rumor...

 

Yea, but it makes for great media.

 

the thing is that sony doesnt NEED to break even on the consoles, as you cant make your own games...you have to buy their games...their controllers...their other gadgets to go with the system....their strategy guides..etc.

 

Actually Sony CAN'T break even on the PS3 alone. They lost approx. over $200 for each PS3. The more Ps3 are sold, the more they lost, just like the 360. They can only make it up with games and accessories. WIth the attach rate like right now (little more than 1 game per console), apparently they are no doing very well. Along with the not-so-popular UMDs, CD root kit, battery recall, if Sony doesnt sell more games, it looks like they're going down.
