Not only are plasma tvs on their way out but HD DVD is done too. Blu Ray took off and the HDDVD didn't. end of story.
All companies that were making HD DVD are not going to be making it, as all major retail locations are pulling HD DVD off the shelves and not selling them, so HD Dvd is pretty much gone
The only places you will be able to find any hd dvd's here in the near future will be the internet or a store like the one that I work at (we buy, sell, and trade used cd's/dvd's/video games/ game systems) That's about it.

exactly, but since the large name epartment stores and retail chains are pulling them off the shelf, then the remaining movie production companies that make HD DVD will switch to Blue Ray do to lack of sales, thus ending HD DVD all together, so the only ones you'd be able to buy would be used copies lol

Some manufactures/stores are rebranding HD-DVD players as upconvert DVD players. Its cheaper than the HD-DVD players were, but its a way that they can actually sell the players since people aren't going to want to buy an HD-DVD player even if all they want is DVD upconvert.

Actually the only company producing HD DVD media (the discs themselves that is) was Toshiba. Toshiba announced that they'll no longer produce the HD DVD disc thus ending the format war. It'll be hard as hell to find any HD DVD media at all cause the discs themselves will no longer be produced.

Also, on the plasma side of things:
