RE: Plasma TV is Dead!
Just because one manufacturer stops making their own panels and starts buying from someone else, does not mean that plasma is dead. Plasma is betterin low light situations, has better blacks and more contrast than LCDs. Iam still planning on buying a plasma HDTVshortly in 720p format. Dothe research. If you watch BluRay then get 1080p, if not the 720p works best, especially at showing action. If you doubt that plasma has blacker blacks, look at your LCD computer screen on standby in a dark room. It looks grey not black.

Plasmas arent dead.. limping/dying? Maybe but not dead. It's still cheaper and easier to make plasma TV's than LCD and there's still a few companies kicking around making them. The only reason why Plasma isn't really taking off is because it's more of an enthusiast thing than a consumer thing. Much better picture quality on a Plasma but too much hassle. Fans blowing constantly, major possibility of burn in, and terrible DVD upscaling. LCD's are smaller, more thin, have better DVD upscaling, don't have annoyingly loud fans and won't cause burn in.
I'd go with an LED backlit LCD myself, LCD technology is catching up to plasma in terms of quality.

Not only are plasma tvs on their way out but HD DVD is done too. Blu Ray took off and the HDDVD didn't. end of story.
