RE: Nsx's replacement...maybe
Honda commits to new NSX
20 October 2005
• New NSX on sale in two years
• V10 supercar to rival Ferrari
• S2000 to be replaced
Honda has confirmed to What Car? it will build another supercar to crown its roadgoing range.
A new NSX is expected to be on sale within two years, powered by a racing-pedigree V10 engine.
Motoatsu Shiraishi, Honda’s chairman of research and development, said that the company was planning a state-of-the-art supercar. This will showcase Honda’s engineering capability and demonstrate that it could compete with the likes of Porsche and Ferrari, as well as produce successful small cars.
‘Our aim is to have a V10 engine some time in the future,’ he said. ‘I can’t confirm exactly what type of vehicle the new NSX will be, but we are planning something.’
Shiraishi also revealed that the S2000 roadster, which has been on sale for five years, would also be replaced in the next few years.
‘The S2000 has not been a success for us,’ he admitted. ‘It was offered only with a manual gearbox and this limited its appeal in many markets.’
Honda only sells around 2500 S2000s a year in the UK. Shiraishi hinted that its successor, and other performance derivatives such as future Type-R models, would have to offer paddle-shift gearchanges and other options to broaden their appeal.

RE: Nsx's replacement...maybe
Well man it is a bit overpriced, under powered, and dont have big enough market segment. I think to replace it they shouls go with a RSX-Type R and give it around 250 hp and fwd, then price it in the $25k range.

Not even to compete. Honda would be alone in the FWD mid 250hp sports coupe part of the market(the SRT4 is gone now). On top of that for a base model at $25k it is still around $4k more than the SI so it is not touching that either.
Honda has no place making a RWD roadster untill they can and will put a engine in it with tq. The new Solistice will own it with the supercharged version coming out and give a damn good fight with the base model all for like $15000 less. So ask yourself, would you rather pay $35k for a front/rear car with 240hp and 160tq that comes in around 3000lbs or a $28k front/rear car with 240hp and 220+tq that comes in at around 2500lbs.
