No replacment for displacement?

RE: No replacment for displacement?
Sacs you can not say the hell with tq, all hp is is a formula equated from tq.
and the 8.3L Viper makes 505hp.
the 6.0L Enzo makes 660hp. and Im having a hard time seeing the turbos on it.
and even if it were turbo, the Henessey Viper of old made 733to the flywheel with twin turbos on what? 8L?

RE: No replacment for displacement?
if i may, hennessey is the joke of the viper world...
SVS (super viper systems) has what is currently the fastest V10 powered viper..it is twin turbo, and dyno'd over 2000hp..and ive seen it run in person, in the low 8s...also, they are surprisingly chatty...i posted a bunch of videos in the video section when aruging with marty about GM versus dodge...
i know that these pictures arent great, but the stryker logo gives you an idea of what the car looks like, and the other is a shot of the turbos...i have a better picture, i just cant find it right now.

also, underground racing dyno'd their viper (i believe that theirs is Roe supercharged) to around 1300hp...

RE: No replacment for displacement?
sorry for the double post, but i found a video...the guy walking around is the guy who i talked to..i believe that he is the crew chief...
http://www.svspower.com/images/upload/video_54_0.wmv
watching this thing launch is unreal...i dont have a race video of it, but i believe that they broke into the 7s at norwalk last year in the mod-viper class.

All being the same as far as chassis, weight, and other things displacement owns I am sorry. Take this into consideration. A V10 from a Viper makes like 550hp and is a 8.3 liter engine. For Ferrari to make 700hp with a Enzo with a smaller displacement V12 they had to strap 2 turbo's to it. I am not saying a Viper is better than a Enzo so please dont break off into that. I am just saying all being on level playing ground, 2 engines ment to do the same thing, setup the same way, the bigger displacement engine will make more hp and more importantly more tq. Sacs you can not say the hell with tq, all hp is is a formula equated from tq.

RE: No replacment for displacement?
Ok here is a easy comparo
a 357ci gm small block(GTO) vs a 427ci(Z06)
Same block, same idea's, same stroke. The LS7 owns it simply put. Once again GM.....4.3 V6 vs a 3.8 V6, the 4300 wins. Ok Honda, R18(new base model civic engine) vs D16 the R18 puts out around 12 more hp but with about 20 more ft lbs of tq.
I am going to leave this thread simply because there is allways an exception like a high priced , low production model but on a whole a engine with larger displacement has more potentail no if's, and's, or but's about it. I mean you look at the whole concept of a combustion engine and you can tell that,. A engine = a air pump, there for a engine that can displace more air has the ability to do more.

RE: No replacment for displacement?
hmmm..i may also prefer the E39 M5, but the new M6 is simply awesome...
I know that the M6 at the NAIAS was open to poke around in when i was there, but that was on a industry day...was it also open for public days? Oddly, one thing that i dont care for on the M6 is the carbon fiber roof...
and as marty said, there is always an exception...technically, battle ships prove 100% that there is no replacement for displacement, as their engines are bigger than any of our houses, and have tremendous amounts of power...but, i know that alot of ships use forced induction as well...
in the end, fast is fast, no matter what youre driving.
