The quickest FWD civic I know of ran a 8.086 @ 180mph the last I heard. Anyone know quicker?

Theres no replacement for displacement is one of the most stupid things anyone can say. there are tons and tons of replacements for displacement.

Forget about V8s. Lets take a B16 DOHC VTEC and drop it into a completly stripped CRX and then drop a B18C1 DOHC VTEC into a fully laoded 4 door integra. Which one would win? Hands down the CRX would kill. Light weight is one replacement.

Take an LS motor and slap a simple turbo kit on it. Run that LS against an identical B20 setup minus the turbo and the turbo would kill it. Turbo, another replacement.

Put a B20 up against a B18C5 and the 1.8 would kill. Vtec and revs, another replacement.

Put the B20 up against a B16 in identical cars, now switch the tires on the B16 to super soft racing slicks and put econo tires on the B20 and the B16 would kill again. Traction, another replacement

Put a rookie behind the wheel of a car with a big engine and a pro behind the wheel of a smaller engine and the pro will kill the rookie. Driver experience, another replacement.

not to mention N2O, tuning (or lack of), and super duper chargers.

My car fears very few V8s out there and mine is pretty much bottom of the line. They make the FQ400 pushing out 400 HP and there are rumors (although I dont belive it till I see it) of an FQ500 coming out in 07. Jebus, 500HP out of a 2.0 engine. How can anyone say "Theres no replacement for displacement" and be serious?

If this were the case the 18 wheel tractor trailers would be the fastest thing on the road.

Not to mention F1 cars arent useing huge engines and they are by far some of the fastest racing out there.

LevIII all your arguments were biased.

Put 2 equal motors together say... 2 B18C5's.... one is bored to 2.0L the othere is kept at 1.8.. Dyno both motors.... what happens? The 2.0 will have more power. THAT my friend is where the saying comes from and THAT is the argument we are talking about here.

The 8 sec civic I mentioned is a 900+hp (probably 1000 by that run) B18 (bored/stroked to 2L), dropped in a 93 hatch.

I broke an axle 2 days ago... I had a spare with me though so it was a quick 15 minute fix. Its the 2nd one Iv'e broken. First one was at the track launching at 5500 with Nos this time I broke traction at top of 2nd and got wheel hop... bang.... Time to upgrade from stock I think.

Not at all.

If all things were equal except for engine size then yes, the more displacement would have more power. But everyone here is talking about V8s vs Civics so oubviously the cars arent the same. I was simply lisitng replacements for displacements.

If you took two B18C5s and limited one to 7k rpm and the other to 8.5k rpm, the 8.5 one would win. Does that mean theres no replacement for high revving? Or if you had two identical civics and then stripped 300 lbs out of one and raced them, the lighter one would win. Does that mean theres no replacement for lightweight?

F1 cars are some of the fastest cars in the world and they have tiny enignes campared to what most people think a big engine is.
