right hand drive is legal in the US as long as the vehicle has proper importation documentation, as well as passes all requirements for a vehicle of it's age safety and emissions requirements
in fact, i'm sure you could think of hundreds, if not thousands of right hand drive vehicles the US Gov owns and operates every day

yea. idk if right hand drive cars are legal in the states. Not sure where youre located, but i agree with BlackDX, if you cant drive it on the streets it aint worth it. Still, Skylines FTW

RE: Nissan skyline?
isnt there only one way to import a skyline? (motorex) and didnt they go belly up? or was that only for new ones, i cant remeber if the article in "Import Tuner" said that you could now onl import R33 and older modles, not R34's. not like that would effect getting that skyline in the states. BTW, id smuggle it!

i believe you have to add airbags and a srs system
beyond that, not sure
and then for emissions has to meet local requirements for a vehicle of its age
edit:
i think it also has to be reinforced to meet side impact requirements, as well as front impact requirements, along with standard things like USDM gauges (mph), and realigning headlights for a proper left hand drive

^if an SRS was not factoy it isn't required
^if an SRS was not factoy it isn't required
so in the US to meet proper standards, they pretty much have to be given airbags
being as skyline's weren't sent to the US markent until recently (note an Infiniti G35, is actually a US spec V35 Skyline), any one being imported must be made to meet the US DOT guidelines for the time of it's manufacture (so in a 96-98 skyline, the 96-98 dot requirements). Older and newer versions most likely could be made to meet the requirements, but significant crash testing would have to be done, in addition to any and all modifications. Motorex, prior to going out of business, used quite a few R33 variants in crash testing to see what would be required to meet US standard. the federal safety board approved the modifications for R32, R33 and R34 skylines based on Motorex's blanket statement that they could all be modified to meet the standards in the same methods. later research proved otherwise, at which time the safety board dictated only R33 skylines could continue to be imported to the US after passing strict modifications to meet the requirements
(also, note, I've done this much research and was a contributor on the Wiki article after I had looked into importing one not long after an article about a california company that would take a Skyline and turn it into a 600+hp streetable monster (I think it was C&D, the car was nicknamed "Blackbird")
edit:
Canadian laws dictate any car older than 15 years can be imported with no hassles, so any skyline 1992 or older

RE: Nissan skyline?
cool, u live in edmonton, im in edmonton right now, and ive decided to hold off on purchasing this skyline, i went and looked at it today and it started up fine, but the body does have a few cracks in it around the ground effects, and the interior is not in the best shape. One of the air vents is missing, the bags that cover the shift and park brake are worn looking(not important) but the thing i dislike most is the turbo tach is a sloppy job. the cables are all sticking out by the pedals and the tach is just hanging over the center console unmounted. I really like the car but im worried it is not of best quality here in edmonton, so i think i will hold out on a skyline until i can afford a nicer one and actually have money for parts and stuff. This car does come inspected and has a carfax report though, but something about the sloppy cable job under the drivers console turns me off, and this car would have to be a daily driver, probally not the best choice right now!
