I think a lot of people are going on "pre 9/11" type mentalities. In this day in age with National security being a huge deal in a number of nations, and Terrorists becoming more and more capable, you have to understand how big a threat North Korea has become.

We already know North Korea is not on good terms with the United States, whats stopping a ruthless dictator like Kim from passing this technology onto Terrorists states? What happens if smaller countires like Yemen and Syria get a hold of these weapons?

What happens if Pakistan gets a hold of them, and uses them against Israel? You have to look down the road. Sure the Soviets MAY have put Nukes on the black market, but you cant say for sure. Have you ever found them? lol Now we KNOW a brutal dictatorship has Nuclear ability within striking distance of a lot of countries.
As far as I'm concerned, we don't have the military numbers to exercise control on all of the Middle East (one/two countries wouldn't be enough, these organizations just move country to country) for the next few centuries or however long it takes for them to give up. Not like they ever will anyway, they've been after the Jews for thousands of years. The only thing that will stop a terrorist attack on US soil is deep rooted world wide intelligence or some peaceful solution, both of which aren't very feasible. That's not to say we should just accept such an attack as an inevitable fate, we've got to do what we can to protect our citizens.

Personally I don't think Israel is savable. Whether it comes from North Korea, Iran or somewhere else, someday it's likely a nuke will be detonated in Israel. They need to be thinking about making peace with the Middle East, because that will be their only option in the future.

China is communist BUT, china wouldnt do so well if we didnt give them anymore money and that would be dumb on their part to screw with us.

you know that china loan us the money to pay the war with iraq.
You know that China owes a lot of it's economic success to our industry scavenging them for slave labor? Chinese-American trade is in the billions annually, with both parties "benefitting."

Look guys, there will NOT be a war with N. Korea, what we will do is create a blockade with a colalition of other pacific countrys that this majorly affects and make sure that N. Korea does not sell the nucs to anyone. With the upcoming election and all this middle east sh*t going on I think many people are going to go Democrat, they will puss out(my personal opinion, but I'd love to see them prove me wrong) and not get involved and then we'll have repeated 9/11's on a regular basis, except with nuclear weapons.

Ked, WTF you know damn well you are trying to solve a 3k year religious battle in a couple months or even years??!!?? You should know better than that. Muslims and Jews/Christians will NEVER get along, the only reason that there is tension in the middle east is because we don't worship Allah, that's it, yeah it really is that simple. (from here out is not directed soley at Ked) And after all the religious wars over that area, that bad blood isn't going away anytime soon. Muslims, Jews and Christians are way to f*cking proud of thier "God", ffs if all of these people would come to terms with the fact that their not going to change anyone's mind and accept that Christians will worship thier "God" and Jews will worship thier "God" and Muslims can worship thier "God" without trying to force their beliefs on others this problem would go away, forever. But that will not happen in our life times, and probably not in the next millenium. Hopefully one day every can accept that people are going to worship thier own "God" whether you push your beliefs on them or not.

well something needs to be done. It got the nukes out of Cuba, why cant it do the same thing in North Korea? lol
it can't do the same thing with North Korea, because it's completely closed to diplomatic relations and their dictator is a lunatic. Khruschev was relatively reasonable and I highly doubt that he actually planned to attck USA. Cold War was all about flexing muscles (so to speak)

Obviously. I said I don't think they are saveable. I was just stating they're out of options down the line if they intend to keep the land of Israel.

i for one think that we aren't going to war anytime soon. first we have to get out of Iraq.
Getting out of Iraq is not an option for USA anymore. If retreat was to occur - the whole islamic world would see this as victory for their cause. Can't have another Vietnam

. Oh, by the way, Scuds are Soviet/Russian missles, I dont think we have them. We have missles called Patriot.
what makes you think I was talking about the US? You think I think we should extend our own troops to the Korean Pennisula? No

The UN needs to do something, whether they use the Russian military, Japans, China's, or anyone elses It doesnt bother me. At this point this is REGIONAL issue. Not a global one yet.
That would probably never happen. UN is the most useless organization in the World. When was the last time they did something meaningful. All they do is set deadlines for countries that refuse to follow the resolutions. When these deadlines expire - they set new ones. As a result people laugh at them. Countries violate the UN resolutions all the time (even the US, which went to Iraq against UN's will)

at the time, i dont think anyone just thought they were "flexing their muscles" However we have to treat this situation as one where escalation is inevitable.
