well i tried to help you but i got nothing.

i went in and randomly created a new myspace thing to see if mine owuld do that. after it asks you if your sure blah blah cuz you can never change it again mine works...so maybe its your web browswer or something? But if your using I.E. then idk what the problem is...unless maybe someone already has url that you are chosing.
