Default My new project....I know I know its not a civic

Ok well it's not a civic...but this is the latest project that is going to take pretty much any time I would have to work on the civic. My bro has had this mazda b2600 for quite some time and he's finally to a point where he can spend some money to get the project going again. The original plan was bag and body drop, but after some discussion we're probably gonna hold off on the body drop until the next go round.

The truck was picked up as an untouched dark blue grandpa driven truck. The first time through we got as far as shaving the handles, emblems and frenching in the plate. And once it was primered someone got bored and airbrushed flames on it for fun.

Here's where it left off after the first run...been sitting this way for a couple years now.

This last weekend we took off the bed and front fenders (to be replaced with 4x4 sheetmetal...they havelarger flares in the fender wells) and we started fabbing the back half of the frame...I got the notches welded in and most of the 4-link.

Here's the only pick I could get my dad to send me...(it had to be the one with my son and the stupid fat guys in it[:@]) yeah yeah I'm the fat guy on the left. Anyway here ispretty much where we got by saturday other than it has all the 4 link bars installed now.

I just picked up all the fittings for the airlines today...so this coming weekend we should have the crossmembers and bag mounts installed in the rear and hopefully the bags installed in the front...then I can plumb the thing.

I spent a little time today at work laying out the plumbing (sort of also to help determine the fittings required) Its not great but here is that as well....

I'm going to try and get my bro to send me the pics that he took...they are better and show more of the progression on the rear work we did...

If anyone cares...we're using slam bags with 8" of lift and 1/2" lines...when we are done it will lay frame....then next time it will lay rockers.

NICE....
i always wanted to slam my old truck BUT thats expensive.LOL and on my budget i could never afford the bolt in 4link that i wanted and air supply setup. i know i coulda done it.... if only i had the money!

best thing to do is drive down down the highway drop the air and watch the sparks fly!!!!! i love those videos!
tho with mine i woulda DEFINATLY welded on some extra lower frame metal so it wouldnt grind the truck off.LOL

I will be posting one of those videos when the work is done. I have every intention of bolting on drag blocks. Since we're gonna lay off on the body drop for now I might try and convince him that we need to suicide the doors. We'll see...first things first though.

And yeah this is the one thing I wish I could have done to my s-10 blazer I used to have...but I could never afford it. He's up to ~$1500 now after I bought the fittings today.

Up until a week or twoago yes. My bro lives there so he had been driving it occasionally. Hopefully it will be back on the road by christmas....but that now depends on whether or not he can get a 4x4 short bed.

lol thats not a bad idea! I bought some 2" solid stock a while back to make a drop hitch for my burb...I have about 30" left I was thinking about using that till it's gone. Probably bolt some angle to the frame and then weld the pieces of 2" to it...then when its gone grind off the welds (if that doesnt happen on the road) and start over.

Ok well we got another chance to work on it...the 4 link is fully welded in and I started on the crossmember/upper bag mounts....ran out of argon in the welder so I couldnt finish..only got the frame for the bag mounts tacked.

Here's some more pics....first an action shot from last week lol

Almost done with the fabbing in the rear for a while, just need to weld up the crossmember, and make some lower brackets and shock mounts...prolly worry about the shock after the bags are in and teh air is all plumbed. Stupid valves are on back order...its already been almost 3 weeks...but the website doesnt say they are. Thats gonna be a problem soon.

Anyway there's where its at for now

Looks pretty sweet. You should slap a train horn on too, lol, those are pretty fun. Had one on my civic but now I removed the system cause of weight. Cool truck though!
