you think it's that bad? I posted the same thing on a mazda forum, most of them said it was a write-off and not worth it...someone suggested the frame is probably bent

how is it an easy fix, stiff? cause if it is, that hunk of junk is better than my hunk of honda =p

Take a look at my album. There's a Saab 9-3 there with similar damage. I do not see any evidence of frame damage. A shot with an open hood would help, but so far everything looks like it lines up. To give a more accurate diagnosis I'd need to see more pics of the passenger side damage and an under hood shot looking down on the rad support. Other than replacement parts I don't think you're looking at any labor costs. All of this is bolt on crap like fenders and some bent brackets that a sliding hammer will fix.

I'm won't be able to do under-hood shots (trust me, I would love to) until I can get ahold of the owner. He lives in an apartment complex in which the main, front door locks. Maybe I should just try and open the hood myself, I have a feeling the latch is broken anyway.

A complete guess, might be difficult to do...how much would fixing this cost?

Don't mess with the car until you get ahold of the owner. All that will do is **** him off and get you in trouble. Leave a note on the windshield. Seems to work most of the time. I have no idea what parts for mazdas cost but I see around $1800 worst case scenario (can't find parts at junkyard kinda deal) not counting the airbags.

So parts alone will cost 1800, I can probably work with that
The goal is to try and get it for under 3-4k (I kinda think that's not possible, but that's what hope is for)
Some of that stuff I might be able to do on my own, but I know other things, especially engine/tranny stuff will have to go to the shop.
I don't have a good space to work on cars, or the resources, again, so yeah...most would be shop work

I'll try leaving a note tomorrow, I thought about it, but it's been rainy the past few days...well, forecasted rain hahah

I worked on the saab in the street. There shouldn't be engine/tranny damage from such a collision. Only thing you'll need is a radiator probably. I wouldn't could on it being that cheap though. This is completely rebuildable and late model.

judging by these pictures, anyone able to put together a list of possible parts I would need? I would like to start window shopping, trying to put some figures together in my head. I don't need any racer replacements or anything, stock or close to would be fine.
Hopefully assuming the radiator and everything under the hood is in working condition.

Both bumpers, both fenders (may be you can fix the driver's side one yourself), both front lights, driver's side rear light, radiator, hood, hood hinges and whatever else is broken.
