RE: inspiration
What inspired me was a 93 civic hatch my bro had years ago, before the fast 'n' furious hit the cinema. It was black, lowered on these huge gold rims and tainted and when i first saw it my jaw dropped. I had no idea about modding or imports untill then and from then its something ive always wished to be a hobby some day.
Unfortunately, his civic was written off about a year after he got it. He was heading back from his work about 2am cos someone had broke in and he was the manager at the garage so had to check it out, i went with him. They had gone by the time we got there. On the way back we were just cruisin and goin round a roundabout the civic slid and when my bro tried to throw it back in, we hit a lampost. Turns out some large heavy good delivery lorry had spilled tonnes of oil earlier that night and hadnt reported. it was also in the winter so there was some black ice too, which didnt help.
So this year i finally got my first civic and am hoping to bring back that honda love again to the family.

RE: inspiration
I've always wanted a nice quick sharp looking import, just never had the time or money to before (still dont have the money but finding it). I think my biggest inspiration was my buddies 00 Celica, he did some work to it and it made me want something small and quick.

RE: inspiration
I am relieved that I am not the only one who was inspired by F&F.. At the time I wasn't really into cars - I was more into modding computers (Blue LEDs, Cold Cathodes, windows in the side of the case, etc)... When I saw F&F I thought it was sweet, but I had an idea that most of that stuff was fake as hell. Then when my brother got Midnight Club for his PS2 and you could mod the cars on that I really got into it.
Since I didn't own my own car until last year (my 22nd b-day) I didn't have anything to do it to. My fiance has an 04 civic but wouldn't let me touch it because it is under her mothers name. I always gocked at the tuners who drove by, and laughed at the obvious ricers, but never knew anything about cars. Then I met a kid at college who has a nicely tuned Pontiac Grand Prix (turbo, exhaust, nice tune, some other stuff I can't remember) and he is really into cars so he started saying that I should do this or that, and I got hooked. Now I can't stop!!

RE: inspiration
the very first word to ever come out of my mouth was "car" so that pretty much laid the groundworks. I could name every car on the road at age 3. My cousin had a bright yellow 68 Camaro RS/SS and pretty much that was the first car i fell in love with, he ended up selling it to my other cousins husband, who still has it to this day, its completley restored with a 400 Firebird motor. He wants to trade me straight up for my STi.... Im thinking about it.

My inspiration.. good question, i think for me it was when i was hanging out with an old friend he bought a 95 Civic DX coupe, we then watched F&F and he went ape**** over it, i liked the movie but the tunning bug never clicked thenit wasn't till he started modding his civic and we started having more friends modding their cars that i got into it, but all these peopel we were hanging arround were more ricers then tuners, they all wanted big ugly bodykits and god aweful paint jobs more then actuall performance, where i wanted more

I have been into cars most of my life. My dad toook me and my sister to hot rod shows all over the east coast and he had a '32 ford. I kinda grew up in a neighborhood where everybody had a hot rod or two so I was always around it. I've always wanted to have a show car like the ones I would read about but the civic was so much cheaper so thats what I started building on. And now I just need a few more Item(suspension, go fast mods, custom paint) and I will have a car that I can proudly park in the garage next to the other cars!!! But mine will still be able to be driven everyday!!!

RE: inspiration
well i took a coarse at the local JVS (auto collision repair) and there were some guys in the class with cars that were done up a little. so i took my second car which was a 1989 Oldsmobile 98 and repainted it, put some 16" chrome rims, neons, system, a wing, and i made a intake myself because at the time they didnt make one for my car. ever since then ive been addicted to modding my rides. i went from the Olds 98 to my s-10 and now the civic. now after last night im seriously thinking about selling my civic and making a sleeper so i dont get harrassed anymore.

RE: inspiration
I have loved cars ever sense I was little, everything from Nightrider, Dukes of Hazard, to Bigfoot/Gravedigger I was hooked on loud engines, the feel of tq, and I allways wanted to kno what made them work. When I was around 8 I got a dirtbike, nothing great as it was a old bike of my buddies and just a honda cr80. At the same time my dad bought a 80cc Yamaha quad. The dirtbike stopped running and being it was a free gift my dad did not care that I took it apart. I took thew engine off and took it apart down to pulling the crank out of the crank case. I never fixed it but at 9 years old i found the problem with it(cracked head) and with no help from anybody.
Fastfoward to when I turned 16, I at this point was big into mid 80's oldmobils like the Cutluss's, 442's so I got a navy blue 84 cutluss from my grandmother. It had a tired 110,000 mile 305ci small block. I swapped in a 403 big block old's with a 700r4 transmission. I loved the pull of the big block and this sent me on my way to being a car nut. My first Honda was a 92 Hatch inwhich I had been reading and looking into for a couple of years. I ended up swapping in a B18B and boosting it by modding a 1st gen GSX manifold and turbo setup to fit.
Well 2 honda's later, I am still doing it. I am in my mid 20's doing stuff with cars that are looked at as a "younger" thing. I will never stop. Cars are my life, working on them gives me a time to myself to think about stuff and plot my next move as far as what I am going to do with the car and what I am going to do in life. This hobby has cost me alot of money but it has also got me away from alot of neg. influences in my life.

RE: inspiration
the thing that got me into cars was when i had my 98 chevy malibu and something on the air conditioning went out so i searched online for something to help and came upon a car forum. Then, someone on that car forum sold their malibu and got a really clean hatch that really caught my eye. After that i joined this forum and decided that imports were the thing for me.
