I'm freakin' excited! (now with pics! page 2)
So I've basically wanted a crotch rocket since I was 11 (I'm 18 now)... well, until about 6 months ago, my parents had the "absolutely not" reaction to me bringing up the subject of getting one. So about two weeks ago, I decided to bring up the subject againsince I'm now a legal adult. After about a week of them considering it, I finally got the answer... I'm allowed! So I've been searching for a week now for a Honda CBR600 (to show some Honda love)... not an easy bike to find for sale (for a reasonable price)where I live... well, just when I was about to "settle" for a Yamaha R6, I take a look in the paper... there's an '01 CBR600F4i for sale about 20 minutes away from where I live! I called the guy selling it today and we're going to meet up tomorrow for me to check out the bike; I'll probably end up buying it (since there's no road rash or anythign and the bike's a lot cheaper than I was expecting tohave topay) early next week. Well, I just thought I'd post that since I'm pretty excited about it...

I'll definitely get em... I need to borrow a digital camera from one of my friends though.. I still haven't gotten around to buying a new one... and it just hit me that I still don't know what color the bike is... all I was concerned with when I talked to the guy selling it was whether or not it was damaged and things like that. I'll see if I can't borrow someone's camera tomorrow when I go to check it out and get some pics.

I just would like to add, that turning 18 does not magically give you the experience necessary to ride a bike like that. I have seen too many of my friends that got a bike too early and ended up dead or in a wheelchair for life. (4 dead and 3 in chairs) And you think right now it wont happen to you, but any old rider will tell you that all it takes is one person not seeing you and you end up a grease spot. Just my 2 cents. I like having you around the forum, and would hate to see one of those "Wheres Reaper" threads. LOL

I have to ask my parents because I live in their house still (I don't feel like paying rent or anything right now), so I have to have their permission for stuff like this. And windcalmer, I'm notsaying that I do have the experience, I'm just saying I was using it as an arguing point to get the bike... and for the record, I might be comfortable at rediculous speeds in my civic, but I can garantee I'm going to be an absolute ***** on a bike lol

Cool beans. Just remember that it is really easy to twist that throttle just a bit to far. Just don't get sucked to the Dark Side. LOL
Stay safe and post some pics when you get it, and I want to see your safety gear too. full leathers, Full face helmet, riding boots, and gloves. Full nine, LOL Yeah, I know I just sounded like and old fart. I know.

no probs, man.. I know you're just concerned (funny how HCF is like one big family, huh?)... I plan on getting an HJC full-face helmet, an Icon leather jacket, Icon pants, Icon gloves, and Gaerne boots (I have everything picked out, I just need to order it, which is okay with me, since the bike's going to be sitting in my garage for a week or two before I get my motorcycle liscence anyway.

awesome! i've been wanting a bike for some time now as well. once i start my future career (hopefully in the next month or two) i think i'll be getting a used cbr600 as well. be careful, and ride extra defensively. as was said, all it takes is one dumbass ont he road to ruin your day/life/ability to walk/etc.
sometimes i get scared thinking about it...all the stupid things i've seen people do on the road..but i don't think i can resist.
