Total:$437.90
Plus shipping, theres even a rebate in there for like 15 bucks on that PSU

thats all good quality parts from reputable companies with great warranties. I have 2 of those cases and use many WD hard drives. I also have 3 corsair PSU's so im recommending you stuff that i would buy.

Its only 4gb of mem but its only two sticks so in a few months you can score another set and be at 8gb. W7 will run great on 4gb but much better on 8. CPU is a low/mid end unit but is a Quad core with a retail box so you don't have to spend any money on an after market cooler if you dont want to. You should be OK on that stock cooler since that case has really good air flow and comes stocked with a bunch of quiet yet effective fans.

If you need anything else please let me know and i will try to give you the best advise i can, BTW as a side note i build PC's on the side for customers and work on them all the time so this advice isnt comming from some noob who doesn't know what hes doing.

Lots of good ideas. Keep them coming. I like to see different builds. That looks like a pretty solid setup. Both of them, actually. I'm putting this project on the back burner until the cashflow comes back, but it's still a priority for me.

I'm not dead set on one yet. Still open to suggestions. I'm just looking at where it's gonna go in my living room.

Bumping this back up, got $250 saved up and I wanna keep plotting.

Anyone looked into SSD's? Is it worth having one instead of a HDD?

SSD's are decent, but they are more pricier than HDDs. The only main difference is access and Read/write time on them. You should be alright with an HDD. Unless you access alot of files or something and want them to pop up pretty much instantly instead of a second or two. I am not a pro when it comes to SSD's but i have some knowledge, as my buddy has 3 of them in his pc.

Last I checked, the biggest SSD drive was about 40 gigs. I've already got 2 IDE HDDs, but I guess I'll probably wanna go with SATA.

They make atleast 500gig ones now. Expensive as *****. If you are looking to get new hdds you definitely should get sata, it will help with cable mgmt, and be easier to hook up. I have 2 satas and one ide in my desktop.
