Hey Guys

RE: Hey Guys
b18 handled boost quite well if I do say so myself...
Also, the EVO is a tad quicker in the 1320... but not by much, I think it was 2/10th of a second quicker, but comes with a pricetag of about 5 grand more, plus all the reviews say that the interior of the EVO is nowhere near the STI... plus the STi looks way better IMO
So lets see, the STi is:
-5,000 cheaper (fact)
-nicer interior (fact)
-better looks (obvious opinion)
-only .2 seconds slower in the 1/4
yeah, your right EVO all the way, bla... haha

RE: Hey Guys
The only reason I brought up the fact that LS engines aren't the best boosted stock engines is they are not balanced the same way as, say, a C1, so though they may be able to handle the boost, it will put far more wear on the internals.

RE: Hey Guys
but the c/r is perfect for boost and with a C1/C5 you run into problem runnings any kind of real boost(10+psi from a t3/t4) without pulling the whole engine apart. Now I would not boost a b20 though

RE: Hey Guys
Well, on a stock LS, if you're pushing 10+ psi long term, you're going to run into problems without question (unless you get lucky).
As for the EVO/STi comparison:
STi: MSRP $32,295 (From subaru.com)
EVO RS: $28,499 (From mitsubishimotors.com)
EVO: MSRP $30,699 (^^)
EVO MR: MSRP $35,499 (^^)
I don't see where it says that the STi is $5,000 cheaper... (maybe check your "facts"...)
I agree that the STi has a nicer interior, but IMO the EVO and EVO MR look MUCH nicer (especially in terms of hood/spoiler/roofline.) While the EVO may look a little strange in pictures, it is much better in person.
It's true that the EVO just BARELY eeks the STi on the 1320, but that's a base, not an RS or MR. And that's >25hp and .5 liters down (I rest my case that the 4G63 is a better engine...)

RE: Hey Guys
Not only is the evo quicker through the 1320, but it also out slalomed and out braked ANY PRODUCTION CAR its year of introduction (disclaimer, im pretty sure this is true, but if it lost to the enzo or something like that, dont give me a hard time ). But keep in mind this is stock for stock, both come with plenty of room for improvement. The 4G63 might be tried and true here in america, but subaru engines are just as proven in Japan. In total honesty im sure either of these two could please you far more performance wise than the civic ever could. Go test drive both, and see what you like!
Another Idea to throw out there for about 10 grand less is the SRT-4. A bunch of guys locally are putting down some very impressive numbers with only a few grand invested, not to mention you dont have to void your warranty until you want to break around 330 hp (mopar staged kits)!

RE: Hey Guys
yea I drove a SRT4 and all but fail in love with it
here is what I am looking at.
New Srt4(maybe an 04 but still new from the dealer) vs used EVO vs used STI
I'd like to keep it as close to $20,000 as I can but if needed I guess I could push it to $25,000 for a slightly modded used EVO or something like that. But eaither way it will not be untill late this year or early next year when I purchase which may throw the new 04 SRT out the window but I have still yet to drive a STI or EVO,I have drove a WRX and to tell the truth I liked the SRT4 better than it.Another thing that I have seen rumored is the next generation SRT4's are to be built on the AWD platform the EVO 8 is on now so that will be very interesting as well.
Time will tell

RE: Hey Guys
I think I have decided on a used SRT4 cause they go for damn good prices,I could care less about resale value as I base purchasing on what I want rather than if I can sale it or not.Plus with the money I save on payments i can mod the SRT4.The EVO/STI are nice and all but I would rather have the SRT4 and be able to do stuff to it rather than own a EVO/STI and have to leave it stock cause lack of money

RE: Hey Guys
the handling of an SRT-4 is laughable compared to the EVO and the STI. and i think Polo was comparing the STI to the MR, in which case, there is no comparison. the MR is a beast. the STI is a great car, but it loses a little of its gleam next to an MR. the MR will outhandle the STI very handily. the EVO gsr will outhandle the STI pretty easily, but take off a little weight, add a sixth speed, a quicker spooling turbo, a vortex generator on the rear of the roof, and a front LSD. not to mention the Active Yaw Control, and Active Center Differential, its no comparison, though to be fair, it wasnt meant to be. the STI was to compete with the EVO 8 gsr. and yeah, the EVO out-slalomed every other normal production car in its first year (including the ENZO.) and it brakes just a couple of feet longer than the ENZO. all in a 4-door. but yeh, its hard as hell to afford an EVO/STI. its more than payments, the mileage sucks, and insurance is a pain. but if handling is important to you, stay away from the SRT-4.
