I do agree, drinking while working on a customers car is a bad idea. I know some of the other guys pop back a few drinks while working on things. I always felt that if they're going to drink, they can be the ones to fix their mistakes, not me. I don't drink, though so that isn't a problem for me.

As for my reasons, the hours are long. I haven't left the shop before midnight in at least a week. 14 hour days are killing me, and I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Working on my own car has become alot less fun, since I spend all day working on other people's cars. I used to really enjoy working on it, but it's been on jackstands waiting and I just haven't felt like messing with it. I'm just letting the younger, more impressionable members, know that working in a shop isn't like they portray it on TV. Except for the arguing. And now, back to my headache and work.

Only if you drink in excess. I usually have a few beers when working on my car, and all my work has turned out perfect.
Yeah... they should start including beer with all aftermarket mods.

Now, on topic, drinking while working on a customer's car is just f**king dumb.
Funny, my cultural geography professor was telling my class last week how Mercedes was considering removing the beer vending machine from the employee lounge and a strike nearly happened. The vending machine stayed!
