I find it extremely disheartening that the only thing in that pile of cars is Hondas, you know how many Mustangs and Camaros I watch running all the time? If you're going to crush street race cars, crush all the cars.
Not to mention they just shut down LACR, one of barely a handful of dragstrips in Cali.... People are GOING to race, no matter what you do, crushing cars isn't going to stop this. They need to have a solution for the problem, like building more legal drag strips around the area and having a place for kids to race safely!

RE: HEARTBREAKING!! 4 all of us
The only things I have against what is happening is for one there simply are not alot of tracks in some areas and it is unfair to people that really want to pursue racing and building cars on a part time level, that is like telling a avid fisherman who lives 4 hours from the nearest lake that he cant fish in the local rivers and streams when in damn near every city there are middle of nowhere and/or industrial roads that are silent at night that authorities could go out, shut down, supervise this activity to make it safe. The second thing is out in Cali and some other states they are singling people out. Not just import drivers but people in modded cars in general and this is simply not fair when the products on the cars in some cases are 50 state legal, hell in Cali I have seen where people driving stock EVO's and STi's are given hard times. It is legal to mod your car in the correct manner no matter what they say and if enough enthusiest would contact sema they will help fight against unfair treatment sometimes.
Another thing is they will simply catch you speeding and slap a street racing lable on you which is bull****. Also I love it how a Harley Davidson can truck down the road with fully open exhaust and damn near make your ears bleed but yet you get in trouble for a high flow exhaust with a muffler and a cat in it like your supposed to have. This is a perfect example the government taking too much control, they cant go to a persons house that has been charged with public drunkness and flush all their beer down the drain, this is outright theft no other way around it.
I am not a street racing type anymore, do little runs every now and then but that is not the point. Give us tracks, stop punishing us for our hobby, and stop picking us out a group for no reason.

I agree with Marty 100%. That's absolutely tragic what happened to those five cars. I believe there's a word for what they're doing nowadays... profiling. Just because you have a car that was built to go fast doesn't mean you're going to drive like a douche every chance you get. I don't agree with street racing at all; in fact, I've never street raced. But still, street racing is no reason to destroy FIVE out of thousands of cars. Either crush no cars or crush 'em all.
Things like this make me glad I live in PA. I still get targeted by cops because I'm driving an import (trust me, I could do some of the same things I catch **** for now in a lifted truck and the cops wouldn't say a word), but it's not like they're going to impound my car or anything.

Interesting how street racers are a nice, easy, young target for authorities. I really don't see why the "authorities" don't crush the vehicles of drunk drivers who kill FAR more people each year than street racers. Then again, those Ecology auto wreckers would have to be pulling double time to make that happen.

There is almost no way you can tell if an item was stolen or not when you buy it. All of these kids are paying for their parts legitimately and having their cars crushed while the theives are making money and not even getting a slap on the wrist. It's facking stupid, people are spending their hard earned money on parts that they can usually even show a receipt for, but it doesn't matter, their car is getting crushed because it has parts on it that have not only traded hands 4 times, but was stolen in August of 1994. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1!!!!!!!!!! Considering the fact that I was hit by a drunk driver, I couldn't agree with you more Mad7s. That's who the police should be targeting. I'm not saying street racing is ok because it IS NOT but they should REALLY be looking out for the drunks!!!
