RE: HCF CD's
ive already had IU ask me to apply there for college
im only a sophomore in highschool
thats how music obsessed i am
but this is how hooked up i am with clarinet. im going down to woodwind/brasswind (a huge band instrument dealer in south bend...bout a half mile down the highway from the Tirerack down there...i think recently they started carrying guitars and stuff) to try out a bunch of different models. but heres the thing. since top end instruments are usually hand made, they are inconsistant. so my teacher got me some numbers and after i take a trip to WWBW, im gunna find what model i like best, and then coming back (empty handed) and calling around, and i can get a bunch of people to send me a couple different instruments, same model...so i can find the one that matches my playing best. since they're inconsistant, one instrument of hte same model may play completely different from another one of the same model, so this eliminates my problem and lets me narrow down my selection even more. also, since im a student of this guys, he can get me major discounts on instruments. the Buffet R-13 is the most popular professional clarinet in the world, its what he plays, what another student of his (who is primary clarinetist in both my highschools wind ensemble and the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra), and what a ton of the big name clarinetists play. it usually goes four about 2.7k (the cost of my engine) and he can get it for me for just over 2k. connections rock. theyre another reason im so into music.
