Having a little bit of trouble, thought maybe you guys could help me...
It's been awhile since I've posted, so I'll re-introduce my car. I drive a 1992 Civic LX with absolutely no mods, all stock except for CD player which was in the car when I bought it. Anyway, I've been having some trouble with my gas pedal... I'm hoping it's something simple like a fuel injection that I can fix pretty easily, but there might be something very wrong in which case I'm screwed because I have no money. This problem is not constant, but it happens several times a week, and usually only when I give a lot of gas such as pulling out and crossing 4 lanes in heavy traffic or something of the sort, and sometimes when I do this, the car just doesn't go. I have to pump the pedal several times until it finally gives anything, and in the cases that this has happened it has shaken me up because once it finally goes I just barely slide out of an accident. So, I came on here because if anybody knows Civics, it's you guys, any help is much appreciated, thank you.

No, nothing has been checked yet, I came here first to ask what it could possibley be, just to know where to start. As my label says, I'm a newb, I'm a newer driver that has caught on to Civic Fever. I don't know a lot about cars, but people in my family do, so I just wanted to give them something to go on. Thank you for your suggestion, Marty, I really appreciate the help.

Hey no problem man
Check your throttle cable first, then move on to other things. Does it do this all the taime or just at certain times? Try and think is the car cold when it does it, is it up to operating temp? Small details count. If it does it all the time I would like I said first check the throttle cable but then move to such things as the throttle position sensor, the actual gas pedal itself. After you make sure the throttle system is working you then can move on to other things like mayby your fuel system(like the fuel filter, fuel pump, injectors).
The thing about a problem like this is you have to trouble shoot one step at a time, first with the easiest/cheapest parts to get and fix then on to the more expensive harder parts to replace. I and many other members of the forum here will help all that we can to assist you in finding this problem as we do not want nor does anyone need anybody to get hurt driving their car. Welcome to HCF and I hope we as a forum can get this problem fixed for you.
