I hate arguing PC vs. Mac, because anyone should be able to see that the both have their strong points. With that said, I think I need to defend the hating that PCs are getting here.

Like Remmy said, treat your PC right and it will run great, and you won't have to worry about blue screens or any of that. I built mine (I really hate brand name comps. Build it yourself or have someone do it, and save the money, imo) 4 years ago, and through many different software installations and hardware swaps, she runs great for me. She's never frozen, I've never seen a blue screen, the only issues I've had with her were with overclocking, and that's totally my fault.

Also, I used to work at a video game store and I know the difference in games available for each platform. Yes, there are plenty games for Mac. Hell, Halo was even originally intended for the Mac system! But there are more available for PC. For me, that was important.

I've also worked with Macs. I love them for what they are, and what they are capable of. I'll always be a pc girl, but it's ok to respect the competition.

**agree

I dont have an arguement to Mac Vs PC .. but cost vs constant upgrading and what your used to .. I go with Windows .. which i get sick of myself.. I miss my Win98 vs this new WinXP .. hate having to call Microsoft everytime i need to install my single copy of Windows on another comp :P .. but I also build my own comps.. i dont like Intel so go with AMD cpu's only.. very nice for gaming .. Plus i like to customize my own setup.. with my option of running my 26" HDTV LCD to my comp...

ok i will admit i am using Windows right now as my daily computer, and i forgot about alienware, and falcon northwest, those are the only 2 name brand PC i would ever buy, but i wdoubt i would, i would just keep upgrading cause i like the customizing ability. and arguing about which is better Mac or Windows, i kinda like arguing which is better EVO or STI... everyone has their preference. so we could be here all day...so i am Folding and staying away from this one

That's why you have to get hooked up with the "registration optional" disk. As many puters as your little heart desires. It's the greatest. I'm going to build a little system when I get home cause my lappy ate itself.

alright. well yes. this argument is worthless. but i will make some final comments.

to clarify, macs switched to intel for a hand ful of great reasons. performance speed, power to batt ratio, and cooling. those are the 3 main reasons. the g5 chip just takes to much power to run.

I said I had the risk of virus, you must be a confused little boy then if you did not understand the sentence.

You probably do game more than me seeing as how I do not game as much as I used to, but when I do I bet I have more fun than you.

It's spelled button.

My crap display is 19" of flat screen goodness, which by the way, is just perfect for me.

You seem almost bitter talking about Windows, my processor has never overheated and it has performed excellently in regards to my memory. I'm quite sure Apple's customer service is much better.... And my worthless OS is used by millions of people around the world.

Your premium that you paid in price and the premium you will pay for first party software will always lead to you paying more in the end, not me. I can go out and buy 4 more and have half a LAN center set up for the price your Mac costs. mkay.

And finally, it'll soon be the RED screen of death. geez get your facts right!
i obviously said i didnt understand that sentance.

i know how to spell button. it obvious that thats a typo.

and there are no 19" displays of godness for under $200. your dreaming.

and im bitter about windows because i used it my whole life, untill i got a mac about 2 1/2 years ago because i finally had enough money to get my own computer. and OSX was out finally.

i know how crappy the system is. very very well. and the reason that millions of people have it. is because they dont know any better. millions of people voted for kerry too. they dont know any better.

and i dont pay or need first party software. there just as much out for the mac as windows.

and you keep bringing up this wonderful price argument. yes, your right. you can buy 4 kia's for the price of a porshce. mmk.

The only brand names I buy would be Dell and Alienware. And Macs arent that damn fabulous. I gaurentee the pc was cheaper becasue there is a hell of a lot more market and demand for it. If you think about it say that he has a toshiba hard drive. Well, that same hardrive could very well be featured in over 3 different brands. Thus lest costly.

And about the windows thing. Microsoft OS will run FLAWLESSLY if you know how to use them.
my family and i (and my gfs family) own many dells. they are just as worthless. they used to be true. but have gotten very very lazy. and alienware is ok but way overpriced and it costs an arm and a leg to fix. my choice PC is vodoo.

yes i know people that have had no issues with windows..or dont like to admit it. there are all kinds of things that are like that.

one more thing. my brother and i have lots of IT experience. my brother does IT for colleges and soon for progressive. my friends and i combine know more about computers then most anyone. and we all own macs.

i wouldn't buy a Dell even with REMMY's MONEY. lol.

every company i've ever worked for had Dell's as their default computer, and they ALWAYS broke.

then they'd give us high-end BOXX computers ($4,000 - $5,000 range) and they were still slower than the mac competition. and yes, they broke too. we had to send them straight back to BOXX to be worked on versus on-site repairs.

I'd take a quad mac g5 and smoke all you foos!!1 lol.

actually i'd take a iMac before I'd take any peecee. seriously.

and don't even get me started on BSODs and spyware and malware...

god mac people are so damn touchy...

I've used both, and I've run (or at least helped run) both kinds of networks. I'll take my PC's anyday

For crying out loud, the users on my network have got to be the most computer illiterate people ever, using 5+ year old PC's, and in the two years I've had this job, I've yet to see a blue screen.

I think it will buy you a entry level 5 series .

My office runs nothing but Dells. We havent had a problem yet. When we get a new pc in I spend about a day uploading programs and erasing programs and stripping it of usesless **** to speed it up. Also, I make them almost 100% idiot proof. I strip all the menus, start folder, and desktop to nothing accept a recycling bin. My dad has a 5 y/o gateway (sigh). Now thats a peice of crap but yet under my watch and maintainence it never gave a blue screen and runs almost as fast as mine.

Im out of this thread.

True but if the Kia'a had the same Porsche motor and other components would they be as cheap as they are now? The new Macs have the same processor and most likely the same memory, hard drive, graphics card...So why the huge price gap? Again, I love Macs but until the price comes down I'll stick with windows based PC's. Every review from PC sites I've read will say the same thing....The Mac is great computer but it's equally based competitor units cost far less.

This is just a stupid debate that needs to end! I'm neutral in the whole Mac vs. Windows and have strong influences from both sides, I have a friend who is a manager at a Mac store and he will give you a hundred reasons to buy Mac. In My career I've worked on computers for over 8 years and every IT guy I know say Macs suck and they give me a hundred reasons too. Ford or Chevy? Who cares!!! Get what you like and don't worry what anyone else thinks!
