I think the new Skyline or Skyline concept was/is based off the 350Z.

The Z should have been stock with an RB26 in it...that would have made it worth the money.

RE: Give me a year...
I loved the styling of the 350Z when it first came out, I was absolutely in LOVE with it. But the more I learned about it and US Nissan reliability, the less I liked it. Then I played with it in several videogames (they are becoming suprisingly realistic lately both in basic geometry and what car beats what car and why >GT4<, tho I still take that experience with a grain'o'salt), AND I started hearing from many people that it was slow and heavy for its class...
I still like looking at them when I see them driving, which issuprisingly often now (another reason if you're into uniqueness)...
I guess I just reiterated everything everyone else said! [:@]Doh!

I'd rather get an old S2000 with an *** load of miles for cheap and rebuild the motor for boost. IMO that would be better than a 350Z. There is a guy around here with a 400+ HP S2k. The styling of the 350Z is OK but the S2k handles better and its a drop top and weighs less. The S2k is discontinued though.

Ditto. Even if the interior needs help it would be easy as crap to redo. However the S2K is NOT discontinued as of yet. 2008 is the last model which will be a special addition s2k

As for 350zs, I like them quite a bit. Too bad that they don't perform as well as they should be. They are heavy and only run 1/4 mile in 14s. A 10yo M3 can outperform it. With all that said - just like few others have suggested, get an S2K (it's a honda, it's a sports car, and it looks better then any car in its class).

A bunch of replies about better things in the price segment...I'm not saying there aren't, I'm just saying, what are some of the cars they are referring to?

RE: Give me a year...
I recently found out I could afford a 350z (03-04) after making payment on my car for a year now and raising my credit. It would come out to $75.00 more a month than what I'm paying now for my civic. I almost bought one but after extensive research on the internet I decided I could make the payments, but I wouldn't have the money to repair it all of the time. Supposedly there has been a big issue with the front alignment on the Z causing it to shred tires after 8k miles. The only fix they have supplied was to switch the tires around to wear the other side out too. If you're really looking into the z, you should first make sure you are going to have money to pay for way overpriced repairs. It's a nice car, but it isn't worth it imo.
Just another point of view on the subject.
