My laptop was 2,300 is was a dell inspiron 9300 and I love it with the 17 in screen. I really wanted adesktop replacement but with goingto and from school i wanted to be able to move it, but itsnot something i really put on my lap.I hear the Vista is only an issue if you upgrade from XP. But if it comes installed on a new computer you should not need any driver updates. correct me if im wrong if anyone else knows.

If you get a toshiba make sure you get some kind of extended warranty, all 5 of my friends that bought toshiba laptops had to send them back for problems during and after the manufatures 1 yr warranty.

skate..i think your pretty much wasting your money.....i read in the paper that the armed forces are blocking their troops from accessing myspace, friendster, photobucket and stuff like that...basically, you will only be able to browse the web and send emails....i guess this is also for sure... if this is going to happen, you really wont need all that power unless you plan to keep it and use it a lot when you come back home.

I say mac book. Vista isnt worth it. +1 for Mac book since you can also boot windows on it.

im sure your thinking of military computers bro, they just blocked myspace and all but you can still browse like you said. this is my personal laptop so i dont think ill be limited just using thier signal. at least i know it hasnt gone into affect yet anyways, i got buddies over there now that can still do what they want.

You can still view the banned sites the same way the Chinese have to do it to see their banned sites. You use a proxy server. A Google search will show up many of them.
