"You've got to have the right tool for the job." "You can't bring a knife to a gun-fight." Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. We've heard it all before. Honda makes some excellent engines, there's no doubt about that, from small displacement four-pots that rev through the roof to gloriously smooth and reliable V6 units. Unfortunately, the fun stops there, as the Japanese automaker has steadfastly stuck to its guns, not building an eight-cylinder engine when it can do just as well with fewer pistons.
Regardless of how competent its six may be, nearly all of Honda's competitors offer V8 engines in their top-level models, and Acura fanatics have been begging for a range-topper to compete with the likes of Audi, BMW, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz for years. They may soon get their wish, as Honda's CEO Takeo Fukui has stated once and for all that Acura will indeed be getting an eight for its next top-level sedan."

Uhh 280,000 miles on it is nuts to me..thats 448,000 kms no one here in there right might would have a car to 448,000kms....the only person buying a car with 300,000 kms are highschool kids. If it took 280,000 miles for the manifold to crack thats not bad considering all the other things that could have gone wrong. I bet that part wasn't that expensive either.
People dont look at it like that though. It's a Ford and something broke so it must be a pile of crap.

People associate Ford with pieces of crap because of the way they build their stuff. When I hear diesel, I think Dodge Cummins, when I hear reliable gasoline truck, I think Chevy. I have nothing against Ford's Powerstroke, except they are V8s that hog diesel. Ford gets a bad rap because it has been around the longest and their half ton line of trucks are too expensive, at least for me. But, to some people it's "Ford is the best in Texas" that is their marketing motto down here.

My first car was a Mercury Topaz (same as ford temp) I bough it off an old guy who babied it. It has a 2.3L 4 cylinder and a 3 speed auto. It was not the fastest or the prettiest but our nickname for it was the tank. I will be honest, I was not kind to that car. I did proper maintenance and such but I revved the **** out of it all the time, aggressively went into corners and overall treated it like a beater. And it soldiered on. I finally had to get rid of it after the transmission went. And even then it did not go completely it would just refuse to drive in anything but first gear. I bought the car with 175xxx KM and it died at 245xxx km. On top of that, I once went through a road construction barrier (it was night and there was no reflective stuff or lights) and I splintered two sawhorses with that car and all they did was destroy my one indicator lens.
The big 3 have put out good cars and again are starting too (I would kill for a Saturn Sky) but between about 1995 and 2004 they didn't they didn't design the cars to last and thusly got a poor record.
There is nothing wrong with preferring imports, just don't sit there and say "All Big three cars suck" when you have not done any research.
But off the record, All Big three cars suck compared to imports >.>

Until gas went to $4 a gallon the f150 was the best selling vehicle in the us for nearly 20yrs straight, only this yr did the gas efficient cars pass it and as far as reliability

Last time I checked the cobalt ss is 260lbs of torque and 260 hp and would slay any stock Honda civic. Plus like Marty said earlier the Ecotec engine is amazing. If I had the money I'd be driving that right now over any Civic Si.

If you want I can show you the Recommended full size pickup trucks by Consumer Reports. GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado are both recommended but the Ford F150 isnt. Honda Ridgeline, Nissan Frontier, Nissan Titan, Toyota Tacoma, and the Toyota Tundra are also all recommended.
Also not till this year have Ford fixed their drivetrain and all previous years are horrendous. (I have reliability of all the previous years)

WRONG. Ford only says they're the best selling truck because they don't add together Chevorolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra as 1 truck but count them as 2 separate vehicles when in fact they are the same.

As noted, the top-selling single models are the Ford F-Series (72,178 units), the Dodge Ram (39,837), the GMC Sierra (37,834) and the Chevrolet Silverado (36,480). The Large Pickup Top Five is rounded out by the versatile Chevrolet Avalanche (5,371).
Chevy/GMC aficionados are always quick to point out that while Ford may produce the best-selling pickup model, GM still builds the top-selling pickup truck in Canada since the combined sales of Chevy Silverados and GMC Sierras (two essentially identical vehicles sold in different showrooms) come to 74,314 units. That says that GM sold 7,186 more full-size pickups than Ford last year. We’re not taking sides here, just pointing out an interesting piece of trivia that can be discussed while sipping a beer in front of a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on television.

That's an interesting point I never thought of. But still backs my point since I was only pointing that out to show that it was american at the top for so long until this yr.
I still would like to point out, correct me if I'm wrong, usually on gm or say lincoln compared to ford the gm,mercury, lincoln usually come with more extras, than say ur basic ford or chevy.
