First shred of the year
Ski Brule, which about an hour and a half from where i'm from, had one run (well two if you count the bunny hill) open today and they also had a special "FREE DAY", so i'll tell you how my day went:
Woke up uber hungover, called my friend and told him i wasnt going. He BITCHED me out bad, hung up, i called him back and told him i was coming, screw it. Got up, brushed my teeth, pulled on my snowpants, jacket, chook, goggles, grabbed my boots and boards and backpack, and walked out the door. I had two things of ramen noodles, a can of chew and a hangover from hell and i was ready for the day as i was walking through the parking lot i saw a Jeep getting loaded up with college kids and snowboards, of course they gave me the "Hey, you going to Brule too eh?" nod, and i got into my car. Drove to my friends house, loaded up in the van, and took off. At the gas station along the way i saw a car load of my friends and had a WHATS UP BRO? going on, then we continued on our way. There is a time change so we got there a half hour early, park the van, and get ready. There were about 15 vans/SUVs/trucks also in the lot, all packed with 5 -6 kids and their snowboards. Music was bumping, and within 15 minutes probably 30 more similar vehicles showed up. Looking around there was beer or liquor being consumed at each vehicle (and i quote from a drunk fellow rider: GOTTA PREGAME FOR THE FIRST RUN OF THE YEAR!, but i was basically still drunk from last night still so i didnt partake, but anyway) music blaring out of the car, and kids putting their boots on. Honestly, the best vibe i've felt at a ski resort ever. The lift opens, there is yelling and hooting, and we start riding. Its only one run open but it doesnt matter. No jumps, and super steep, but w/e. At the top kids were buttering all over the flat ground, nose press back 180, cab 360s, switch BS 180s, penguin slides, and 180 press reverts (amongst any other butter you can imagine) were being thrown left and right, also cant forget everybody bonking every single stump or barrel or pole around the entire mountain, and it felt amazing to snwoboard again. Eventaully a jump was built on the side of the run and it was good enough for a BS540 (sooooo happy i got to spin today), and another little one that was good enough for joke-around backflips and frontflips. Then the bunny hill came around. Everyone pulled the boxes up, built jumps, and set up a flat-down-flat-down box and then just a down box. There was a tow rope, or you could just hike it, but before i knew there was about 25-30 of my friends here from Marquette across the state, all jibbing their asses off and having a hell of a time doing it. Back lips, nose press back 180s, tailslide 270's, noseslide pretzels, and of course Michael Jackson's haha anyway the whole day went amazing, had a good jump, threw a 540, had a SUPER sick rail setup, chilled with all my fellow snowboarders and just had an amazing day.
Idk, had to vent about how amazing day and hope for many more
OH! And as a side note the local mountain (Marquette Mountain) called me today and would like to interview me to work as a chair-lift worker at the hill this next week. Free season pass anyone??

RE: First shred of the year
I've been in snow once....and it was the sucky muddy BS that forms on the side of a salted road. Oh well, I can't snowboard but I get to look forward to wearing my flip flops tomorrow. FL's 85 degree Fall rules
