My old house was 101k, 10 years ago. It was a 3 bed room town house, and not as nice as your house.

NICE SCORE MAN! I thought it was going to be way more than I spent on mine. What's the square footage? Does it have a basement, I dont remember?

Oh, and what are you plans, if any, for the garage?

Thanks 40, the square footage is only 1460 actual living space. The rooms are an ok size, not as big as we'd like, but we were willing to compromise for the land, seclusion, and peace the country offers. No basement. That is so cool how your house has a basement. It's amazing you have around the same square footage and have 4 bedrooms AND a basement! They really worked that floorplan to its potential. I haven't really considered plans for the garage...yet. I've been thinking more along the lines of building a small 10x10 building in the backyard that matches the home for my music studio. I've got an appointment with a contracter to see if I can afford to do something like that. If it's too expensive I'll just buy a pre-fab building that matches the home as closely as possible.

That's awesome man!

...yeah I found out yesterday that the 1400 sq ft. doesnt include the basement either. When we went and looked at the house for the second time, I measured every single room. Then yesterday for whatever reason I was looking over my fiancee's floor plans (shes huge into interior design), and something wasnt right. So I added up all the main floor square footage and got like 1430. And I know damn well my basment is more than 50 square feet, lol

We'll be setting up a pretty decent studio as well, so you and I will have to stay in touch and share ideas and what not. btw, what do you play?

That is cool man. [8D] That's the thing about buying a little older home. You really get more bang for your buck when you can make improvements to build a lot of equity in your home. You also get a sense of accomplisment knowing you did the work and made it your way. I have to say the basement in your home is a like a little piece of heaven. I love extras like that. Congratulations once again. I hope everything works out for you on that deal. [sm=smiley20.gif]
I play piano as you can see from my avatar. I have a PSR550 at the present with a 16 track sequencer and built in floppy disk, coupled with Sonar 2.2 software that I really haven't been able to use yet. (My computer went kaput on me.[:@]) Anyway, looking at upgrading to a Yamaha Motif 8 or something on that level with 88 hammer action keys and workstation capabilities. I write lyrics and compose contemporary gospel/inpsirational music. I'll write a love song every now and then as well. My styles are genres ranging from traditional gospel to R&B, light rock to jazz, from classical string arrangements to pop. I love all kinds of music and I can admire melodies from just about anything. I would say my playing style mainly reflects jazz harmonies, classical, and R&B. I just can't pin it down to one. How 'bout you? Looking forward to hearing some of your ideas.

wow, how did I not put that together, haha. That's cool though man, sounds like you're pretty into that stuff. Maybe you'll have a better idea as to what the Piano that's currently in my new house is worth.

Lori and I are the same, very passionate about music. She has a beautiful voice, and plays piano once in a while. And I've been playing guitar and doing lead vocals for rock bands since I was 13. I'm definitely not the best singer you're likely to hear, but I've never had someone leave a set, so i guess that counts for something.

As far as the room goes. I'm going with dark colors, elevated speakers, and a over-all heavy metal "feel." I've also been thinking about sound proofing it, you know anything about that?? I've yet to do any research, but I hear you can do it for fairly cheap. I've also got to finish putting a computer together for editing/recording. I used to be really into that when I lived back home, but since I moved here between work and college I never really had time, or the SPACE for that matter, to get back into it.

Sweet! I love guitar! That is the next instrument I want to learn to play. Preferably acoustic guitar though. My brother plays the bass and the piano... both by ear..... I envy him.

I don't really know anything about sound proofing as this will be my first music dedicated studio. I've just started reading and learning on that here recently myself. Sounds like a cool setup and theme you have in store for yours.

I've only owned 1 acoustic upright piano and it was crap. Just what I taught myself to play on. I don't really know enough about pianos to establish their worth, you'd be better taking it to a piano dealer or have them come out and take a look and play at it. There are so many factors that go into a piano's value.

Remmy, I thought about that too, but I know that would be really expensive to reconstruct walls and extend the roofline. I was wanting something I could accomplish fairly quickly. It's definitely worth looking into though it would really add value to the home. Oh to be rich...
