pat and DCA nailed it. as much as it did 'ruin' the import scene, it also helped it out a ton. before FATF, an exhaust would run you between 500 and a grand. nowadays people whine when it strays over 350. it really did help a lot more than people like to admit.

Well, I can honestly say that I was into the import scene before Fast and the Furious came out. There was one guy in my hometown that I used to hang out with from time to time, that had a 94 civic, that was pretty well done. Keep in mind, I'm from a small town, way up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where trends and technological advancements come LONG after the rest of the world has seen them. For reference, my parents STILL have a rotary style phone. Anyway, ever since I first rode in that civic, I wanted to build an import.

So, me and a couple buddies started really reading up on things. Then, one night we were all sitting at my friend Matt's house, when we saw the first trailor for FATF, we all froze in amazement, and were SOOOOO friggin excited to see it. It, of course, was kinda gay but as Pat said, gave everyone a glimpse into "the scene." Which was something us Northerner's had never seen before.

Well right after i saw the movie I was looking more towards an buying an import, more so then I did before. However after my parents saw it they immediatly thought if I bought an import or as they put it "streetracer car" I would be getting into all sorts of trouble. Well I ended up buying a toyota tacoma, it was pretty quick but considering I was using about a half a tank each day it was getting expensive. Especially for a high school student. So I sold that and got in the market for a new car this time my parents were okay with me getting a import for gas mileage....Mainly becasue my dad had just recently bought an accord. And so after that I was in the market for a civic, and they finally gave in to the fact that i was going to upgrade it becasue if they diditn let me I was going to do it without them knowing. And yes my first mod was done without them knowing. So the movie made me re-think imports, as long as they were done right. in otherwords no primer body kits and wings made out of 2x4's and not having an exhaust that sounds like you have a hornets nest in it.

Mine sounds like a bees nest when its cold, but Im sure you meant a cheap *** exhaust. I personally like the sound of a full race setup.

i have been in the race seen for a while, about 3 years before FATF came out, although i am 16, i got into racin very young, i start with $-wheelers, and worked my way up, yes i liked the first one, until i realized how much bull**** was in it, the cars are nice, and the only good seen in it is the(race wars) one, because there is alot of stuff like that.... but that movie didnt inspire me to do anything, but one day find a truck high enough, and get a car low enough to drive under it...LOL... as far as FATF 2, it could've had a little more thought put into it

is it your exhaust, or your intake that the sound is coming from more? I would love to have a setup with ITBs and a stock exhaust. I love the sound coming from the intake tract, more than a raspy exhaust note.

I have seen the movie and enjoyed both of them.A friend of mine owned a 92 prelude and was always asking me to install this, fix that, why is my car doing this.I had a luxury 89 cadi with i.c.e.tv's rims, the works. Then I bought a mustang and raced him for awhile put three motors in that piece of s"t.Then this girl got a dui and lost her lic, motor was screwed and dents were every were.I gave her 250 then my civic was born and got 1900 already into it.I have always worked on imports. The movie has played a role in it to.Got the car in the paint shop now.It makes me think that she was trying to copy the movie with driving or something.

several years ago I saw an article in hotrod magazine about a company in calif. building honda engines up to 500 hp and 500 lb ft torque. I lmao about that and thought it was a joke. Now they are up to 1000 hp and think 1200 can be done . This is important to racing because of the weight factor. A heavy race car ( corvette , viper ) requires twice the horsepower of a honda just to be the same speed. So if you have 300 hp in a light honda , you can give a corvette all he wants to deal with. This translates into FUN.
