that analogy doesn't work, because you don't know for sure if the change will help or not, while it is obvious that you shouldn't turbocharge an engine in poor condition

No, the analogy is quite appropriate. Before you can make major changes you need a moderate tune-up.

Thats what the changing of the gaurd is so to speak. The Senete and House have been tuned up. Just give it a chance before dismissing it, it would take any president atleast 2 to 3 years to sort through this mess anyway.

I believe the messages pushed forward and embraced by Obama's campaign for the white house are somewhat of a tune-up. Obama has changed many Americans' outlooks on the government and the future, by instilling a sense of hope and a promise for change. Obama has prepared the American people for the changes he will bring.

Also, I'm sure he's not going to get into office and then wham everything is different. There will be a transition.

Note to People: Don't say that Obama was the ONLY one pushing for change, both candidates were pushing for change. I see this a lot from a lot of people. The only difference was that both candidates had different ideas for change. And no, I'm not swaying anyone to either side, and yes, I did vote.

So let's see... I was looking into some of Obama's projects and here's my outlook on it: 1) The internet will be regulated 2) 2nd amendment will be abolished or amended 3) there will be even higher taxes etc...

That's why I think it's wrong of people to just tell citizens to just go out and vote (especially new voters), there needs to be an understanding of the policies and ideas of each candidate above anything. Most people don't take that into retrospect and they just lose out of the whole idea by just going and picking randomly or by who's prettier.
