Do you own a radar detector?

Do you own a radar detector?
I was just wondering if anyone here owns a radar detector. i have seen so many around here its not even funny. Soon the entire nation is going to become so dependant on these things they wont even care what speed they are going until they're radar fails and they wind up going to court. I do not use mine to speed. I use it as a guide. It lets me know when it goes off, that there is a cop in the area. but sometimes i get false alarms, i still slow down. /i use it as a reminder not to speed. When i look up at it and i see it scrolling across the terrrain looking for any signal. i slow down anyways. please ppl if you have these do not use them because u think they will make you invincible. b/c believe me they don't.

radar detectors help. i don't speed like crazy, and the radar detectors help you with the traffic cameras cause they can detect them too.
i think though that driving safe is important. the things that scares me are big *** suv's and trucks that go faster than me and cut through lanes like crazy. man
those things are wide and weave in and out of traffic, its crazy in california.

i dont drive like a crazy man out in public. its usually when the cops are preoccupied in the main city and a bunch of friends play cat and mouse around the neighborhood. but since its a neighberhood (old people mind you, no little kids) its not really possible to get over 35

Jhsplay, I've heard very good things about Passport and Valentine 1. I actually need one myself. I keep on putting it off but I've been trying to slow down and I know a radar will just be an excuse to drive fast. [8D] I think it's just good to have one though. They serve other purposes besides just getting away with speeding.

I only use my radar detector on long trips just because if you have an average speed of 55 mph and you have 700 miles to cover you will do it in 12 hours and 45 minutes. But if you have an average speed of 65 mph on the same 700 mile trip you will do it in 10 hours and 45 minutes.

Over here in the uk the whole country is filled with fixed speed camera's, There are many types, gatso, which uses a film and will flash and take a pic of your reg plate, also digital ones which never need to be replaced with film. the trouble with these types is that people who live near them know they are there, so just slow down when they are within range then speed up again afterwards. The ones you have to watch out for are spec's cameras which are placed every half mile or so along a section of road, these types calculate your average speed between each point. Lastly there are police mobile speed radar guns. If you get caught by any of the above expect a £60 fine and 3 points on your license. The govenment use them to collect huge sum's of money. A couple of my friends have road angels which use gps to detect all types of cameras and radar equipment, They are completely legal too.
