Contact Honda Corporate for sure. It doesn't matter what the laws of Virginia are, Honda Corporate doesn't want that kind of name going with thier brand. Make sure you tell them that you are an active member on a Civic forum and that you will tell all the members about your experiance. The dealer will probably also get in trouble from Honda corporate as well. Ask to speak with the regional rep from Honda corporate and that person should take care of the matter for you.

Seriously, you need to do something about this so that it doesn't happen again to someone else.

It's kind of odd they allowed him to test drive it in the first place. On top of that, the driver who got into the wreck gave them his insurance information for a reason.

I wonder if it was really test driven by a customer rather than a salesman. But either way, you need to let the BBB know as I've had countless things solved by getting them involved. Namely with Microsoft, but Honda lives up to way higher standards.

This is exactly why you contact BBB, one fo there reps at BBB will contact coreprate and they will do anything in theere power to make sure you end up leaving a positive remark at the end. I tell ppll to do this all the time and no one tends to listen to me. I hope you do because they always do something to try to make you happy.

Last time this happned with me with sprint and i ended up getting a brand new phone and 4 months free in credits just cause the local manager was an *** hat.

there's no recourse in VA as long as they refund my deposit in full (which they did). It's just like if I had placed one on order, and hadn't seen delivery in the quoted time. As long as they refund any money placed down/deposit in full, there's no recourse against the dealer through the law.

I have called HOA about it, they'll look into it, but I doubt I'll see anything from it since I didn't actually buy the car. Dealer will probably get a slap on the wrist from Honda, and that'll be it.

Now looking around at the plethora of other dealers in the area at 2008's.

Hopefully be working a deal on one soon. Most likely Silver to replace my current silver car and to best match my wife's CR-V.

you getting anything for the issue is not the point. Its taking care of a shady dealership and helping others to not have to deal with what you went through.

What exactly did HOA say about it?

HOA said they had no previous complaints about the dealer in the last 5 years, and that they'd call the dealership and ask about it. I gave my salesman's name, and the dealer stock # for the vehicle in question, which no longer appears to be listed in their inventory (I hope some poor sod didn't buy it).

Supposedly the regional rep should be calling me as well, but I haven't heard from them yet.

It's like the area's largest honda dealer, so I don't expect them to have much outside of a slap on the wrist, since other than the obvious ethical implications, they didn't violate any local laws.

Ethically, they should have told me right after it happened, but it might have just been a sleezy salesman... needless to say, I'm just going to go to a dealer and buy the thing now... and not put a deposit on anything.

man I would report them to anybody I could - that is fraud - I am sure the FTC, BBB would at least like to hear about it.

those employees who participated in it should be fired too. that is just total BS. I am sure some of the news stations would like to hear about it too.

that crap has got to be put to a stop - you fricken spend 20,000+ on a fricken new car you should get a fricken new car

arrrghhhhhhhh! this kind of stuff just gets to me. in life it is real simple to have morals and integerity. just when greed gets in the way is when it gets complicated.

So I'd been in discussion with a local dealer for the last couple of weeks about purchasing their remaining 2007 Si Sedan w/Navi & Summer Tires, and arranged to go for a test drive/sign the deal on Saturday/put a $1500 deposit on it.

So I arrive at said dealer at the appointed time on Saturday, only to find out that a salesman allowed another customer to test drive the car, despite having a large SOLD sign in the window.

Said customer, gets t-boned leaving the dealer lot.

Dealer doesn't call me, despite knowing that I'm coming in to buy the car in less than 18 hours.

When I get to the dealer, I want to look at the car (obviously) and test drive it one last time. Dealer gives me the excuse "oh, we took it back to have it detailed". ok... let's go talk papers and start that motion then.

Finally, we get all the way through the paper work, and before I sign go to look at the car, and immediately I notice something is wrong... the color looks off on the driver side. So now I'm really scrutinizing. Pop the hood... fender line is so blantantly obvious it's painful.

Push come to shove, dealer admits they replaced the driver side fender and door with 2008 parts in an attempt to sell the car.

I immediately demand my refund back, and tear apart the paperwork.

So, my wife and I didn't get the Si, and I'm now back to looking locally to see if I can find another, before I succuumb to just buying a 2008.

****e man, thats really low, those car dealers are scum...I think car salesman are the absolute lowest of all professions incidentally, but of no relation to your post, just my own experiences...

What I do its all about trust and good name, with carsalesman its 100% the opposite...Youve got to watch those guys all the time...[:@]

Im just gald you caught the damage in time by doing a proper pre take-home inspection...otherwise think of all the hassle youd have...[sm=chairshot.gif]
