ps fiirkan you know that alienware is owned by dell dont you?
IMO macs arent worth anything because theyre not gamer friendly...which would be the only reason id buy a new computer.

RE: Death to Dell computers!!!11!
well its not like dell is a ****ty company...their home computers have a tremendous amount of computing power for their price, their custumor support and stuff is just ****ty. i had a friend who got a computer for dell and he spent days trying to figure out what was wrong with it (it was turning on and everything and everythign was running but no display...moniter plugged in and everything) andhe was baffled, his friend was baffled, dell tech support didnt get back to him until two weeks later and they didnt know, and it turns out that it was just a loose PCI cable from the motherboard to the video card. talk about ****ty tech support and customer service.

I used to have a Dell, it was a Dell Workstation with Dual Pentium III 700MHz processors. I remember that i upgraded the video card to a 128 or 256 MB card. Right now i have a HP X2100 with a Pentium 4.

Dell computers aren't upgrade/troubleshooting friendly. Everything has to be Dell certified
Price for Dell on Ebay = $350.
P4 3.2 GHz 80GB HD boner system w/XP home
price for 2GB UNCERTIFIED ram = $400.
price for 6700GT UNCERTIFIED Video Card = $550
price for 250GB UNCERTIFIED hard drive = $150
put it all together for one top of the line Gaming rig = priceless (with 2 year warranty)
1400 for a rig like that is Great. I run ACad, 12 different games with major resource requirements all at the top levels.Glitch free performance that still rivals 3000 dolaar systems.....Not much in the big names comes close. At the time I was looking at the AMD FX chipset, but the cost got prohibitive to build my own, so...EBay to the rescue. I just bought a friend a Dell refurbished for 400.00 delievered. Loaded system with paperwork and warranty.
I think it may be better then you think

Dells come from the factory with a funkified version of XP, so that's probably why her hard drive wouldn't boot on your computer. We had to do some hard drive swapping between a Dell and a Crapaq last summer and it wasn't fun. XP Pro is way better too.
I'm not too happy with Dell right now either--it's $700 to upgrade my memory to something remotely usable. So for now I'm rollin' 128mb and trying to not run too many of my design programs at once.
