Craziest Sleeper Ever
Last night I went to a concert downtown with my buddy Chuck and his friend Dave. This guy Dave has a first generation Galant so when he drove us over to the car we were taking (SDSU has severe parking issues) needless to say I wasn't expecting much............there were five of us in the car and when this guy punched the gas my neck still snapped back. This crazy human had dropped a 2nd gen Eclipse GSX engine in this thing and put in the works. Pardon my ignorance for not knowing the engine name. Anyways, this thing smoked. Be careful when a sedan pulls up next you. Next time I see this guy I'll be sure and have the camera.

are you sure he dropped that motor in? there was a limited edition Galant, i think only in 92, it was a VR-4 i think. it was all-wheel drive, turbo 4G63. yeah, thats a bitchin sleeper. though there is a guy here in Sac that has a Dodge Colt with the GS-X engine AND drivtrain. thats right, All Wheel drive colt. with some pretty serious power upgrades. ive heard he's running mid 11s.

Thank you for mentioning the engine AnakinKenobe. Yes it is the 4g63T engine from the GSX Sacicons and not the limited edition Galant. He specifically said, "Yeah, I dropped an engine from an Eclipse in here." So, I'm pretty sure.

Hmm. I disagree on a couple of points there. Any 1G or 2G with the 4G63 (turbo or not) has quite strong reliability (nothing Honda-esque, mind you, but they outlast VW's.) DSM got a bad rep back in those days since it involved Chrysler (specifically Eagle) and Plymouth, but the truth of the matter is, Mitsubishi was still doing most of the mechanical work. This was back when they were more like the Big Three of Japan, doing it as a combination of reliability and performance, and having now owned 3 DSM's, including one currently, as well as working on a boatload of them, I can tell you that they deserve much more credit than anyone gives them. Once DSM ended, I think we can all agree Mitsubishi went downhill pretty fast (with the exception of any EVO...), but back in the day, they

Your right Kappa, when they were DSM they were really good, even the SOHC 1.8's were quick, the reason they got a bad rep was the 2nd gen motors were prone to crank walk, i only know about dsm's because i had a 90 talon tsi. i got to tear that thing apart piece by piece lol ... needless to say they dont blow up very easy lol hehe ....
