The government should step in, but the government won't step in. There are way too many lobbyists paying congressman across the board for the congressman to do anything about it.
You see that is you speaking throught your anger about the 'paying off'. It cant happen that way. Congressman have had hearing after hearing after hearing with member of the oil industry about this. fact: there isnt **** they can do about it. Congress con't do ****.

You see, this is just soooo ****ing particular too blame the president. The fact is that while the president is in office, whatever financial ivestments he has are frozen there can be no loss and there can be no gain. it keeps them from shutting things down and saynig things to get a rise out of investors so they can gain a quick dollar.

There's a buttload of us, people who are angry about these prices, but we're disorganized and lazy...now if it hits up $4/gallon you WILL see me joining some group going to DC and protesting...

You see the thing about it is demand is only higher because they either shutdown refineries or slow down production. It's the same thing that happened back in the 70's. How can demand be so high throughout the 70's that gas stations are running out and prices are souring but yet turn around and tricle down to well below $1 a gallon in the 80's,90's and slightly past 2000. This is what is wrong OPEC has a corner on the market that is both illegal and being helped buy our government. There is so much dirty money floating around Washington in regaurds to the oil industry that the people that are supposed to be protecting us from this kind of stuff are making money off us suffering. Somebody has to stand up to this, be it a very very large group of Americans, over half of congress, or a combo of them both.

I just beg of anyone and everyone that reads this to take note during local, state, and federal elections and get out and vote. look at all the issue's and make your choice wisely because the people you put in office today are the ones that run this country tomarrow.

Just an unbiased thought... I cant wait whats going to be in store for the next president republican and or democrat.

THink about it. The possibly next republican president is immediatly going to receive bs from the ungodly biased media... and the democratic pres is immediatly going to catch hell once he makes a bad decision.

Im just going to sit back with my 3d glasses and popcorn.

$4? Damn. Since demand for gas is inelastic - we will only see an increase in price .

On a similar note - they will be releasing a VW in '07 (you know, the one, similar to ariel atom). Their target price is $17k. I hope they actually start selling for that, because considering gas prices, I would surely want one of those. It's extremely fun to drive also. It will have a VW Lupo engine and will get really high MPG. The article also mentioned that this car is designed with tuning in mind, so it will be easy to work on. In fact - they claim that the engine can be dropped in less then 20min.

So your telling me that congressman don't get money from the oil lobbys? Do you know about how much lobbying goes on in washington? The republican party is encouraging lobbying in congress. Look up the K-Street project. Pretty much the K-Street project tells lobbyists to hire Republicans and give more money to Republicans or risk losing access to Republican congressman. Yea, i'm way off on this one...
